Please have a look at the following link: http://www.france24.com/en/20121210-french-teacher-suspended-suicide-assignment
What this teacher did horrified me and that he was not instantly dismissed for such a dangerous antic but merely suspended beggars belief.
Interestingly, on the same page there is another story about higher education (the second one) that my wife and I discussed over lunch and really hope that they do act on. She is in the process of getting herself properly into the system so that she can apply for senior posts but where does she go? Universities, grandes écoles or research centres? Having researched and taught in Switzerland and the UK she can do each and also do them all at once because she has the admin experience.
Where do we want our children to go.
Two discussions, I know, but somehow they do partly patch together a more holistic picture of a country with a lot of work to do.
