Ski in april?

hello, we’ve just moved here - never been ski-ing before, and thought we might get in one day of sliding before the summer. i’m told the ski-season ends on 25 april in andorra… we’re near revel & have the ski-wear, but we’d need to rent boots and ski’s and whatever else we might need! we’d be looking for a private lesson for a couple of hours… any tips?

Hi Teresa,
With the very warm weather we have had over the last week or so, only the higher resorts are going to be open. Andorra may have set a date, but if there is no snow or no skiers, then they will close earlier. The Pyrenees are substantially lower than the Alps and the season definitely ends sooner.

La Mongie may be your best bet. It is still open and has a decent depth of snow at the top, but I would suggest making an early start as the snow will quickly turn to porridge once the sun gets up. There will be hire shops there and definitely ski schools.

Luz Ardidden has already closed due to lack of snow, Piau is still open and has okay coverage, Peyragudes is closed as is St Lary. Cauterets is still open and appears to have reasonable coverage.
