Steak

Hi All

I have a friend Brent Curtis he is an American beef farmer in the Gers http://grasspunk.com/ some of you may already know of him, he has offered to deliver his beef to Toulouse if he can get a delivery of 10 or more boxes to make it worth while, i have nothing to gain from this other than saving myself 3 hours of travel, he does a mixed box everything from steak to a diced beef a box of pure steaks and a box of mince all vacuum packed, i and many others can vouch for the quality and taste, for us its a 6 hour drive so a Toulouse trip would halve that, i hope that gives an indication of quality and taste plus the cookies and coffee on arrival.

I'm with you on the steak here John the French dont hang their meat as long as the uk plus something about the age of the animal when slaughtered Brent did explain it once but cant remember only a couple of times have i had a really good steak here in France, Brent and his wife are American so that gives a clue plus the meat is hung for the required time we live 3 hours away and we think its worth the day out the meat is fresh not frozen so cool box and ice packs required, i believe we have lost our status as furthest traveled so that fact alone must shout volumes

I'm new to the forum and have not posted before. I love France and most things about it. One of the big disappointments in France is the quality of the steak. I know there will be many people who will give out about advocates of red meat but I am a big fan. Given France's reputation for good food I could never understand why it is next to impossible to buy a good steak in France.

In Ireland we have world class steak and I have also eaten fantastic steak in many countries including the United States.

Does anybody know why it is difficult to find a decent steak at a reasonable price in France either in a restaurant or in a supermarket.

Problem is James its not a shop, beef is only available at certain times i'm sure Brent would welcome you on a visit, though i doubt beef would be available, you have to order its quite a get together people of all nationalities as i said my wife thinks it well worth the 6 hour run so if we can get more orders around the Toulouse area it would be great a round rip to Toulouse is only 3 hours

I first heard of Grasspunk a few weeks ago, I would love to try some of their beef, it looks fantastic. Next time I am over in the Gers I'll pay a visit I think.
