Supermarket stock control

A couple of instances recently seen that ask the question: is stock control exercised? Intermarché tea section - about 25 different teas, 20 of which rarely get sold and the other 5 always sold out. Why doesn’t the shop always have the big sellers in stock?
In LeClerc: gents trousers on sale. I saw about 40 pairs left on hangers…none smaller than size 38. Clearly the smaller sizes 30-36 sell out quickly - and that will happen year-in, year-out; so why don’t they have more of those sizes and fewer large sizes?

I don’t know about stock control, but I never rely on the stock levels shown online by the various bricosheds.

Super U at Saint Bonnet de Joux has appalling stock control.
