Your article brought the memories flooding back from a time I had almost forgot. In the 50's I was based at RAF Wittering, Northants with 100 Squadron, Motto "We Sweep The Skies", A bomber squadron with Canberra bombers, at that time most Squadrons consisted of 2 flights of 6 aircraft each. Many of my colleagues were survivors from the great conflict. We were poorly paid. but that mattered not. as we were proud to serve our country. I do feel that since that time we have been let down badly by successive governments. The lowest state pensions in Europe and the ending of the Winter Fuel Allowance is part of our reward for services rendered
