Yes! We went to a VO showing with a gaggle of grandchildren (aged 8-13), 4 of whom are girls. It was an absolute hoot, with a lot of serious points to take on board.
I enjoyed it far more than I expected to, & I’m quite curmudgeonly 
Yes, I think going with kids might have been a better idea for us
