Talk about “survive France”, the Rassemblement Nationale party of Le Pen is hell-bent on going after non-nationals. At a recent rally she state that French nationals would have “more rights in France than others” under her leadership.
Just how far that would go is unknown but it’s a chilling reminder of the shift that is taking place across Europe (and the US of course).

Someone has just stuck RN posters over the local events posters outside our Mairie here. The last lot of RN posters I’d seen locally had the additional words ‘pour les riches’ stuck over them.

She has to say this.
If you are worried that she is going to kick out us established and non burdening immigrants, no need. What she is saying is that French nationals will be given more rights than a foreign national when the two are competing for the same. She is not stupid and will realise that there are a lot like us who contribute to the economy that she will need.
I would worry more about some of her other ideas.

As people keep telling me here, it’s a certain type of non-national from the continent across the sea that milk the systems here and send the money back that they are more interested in seeing off. As long as you comply with the law here with proper residency papers, are not a burden and back the economy you have no worries. There are less of us to go after anyway.

If that’s right I should be ok, certainly paying my contribution this year, the first € 500 odd comes out of my bank in 8 days time. Only 4 more to go. 
But who does the sums? The original estimate was €4. 
And when we had the business we contributed thousands of euros into social security for ourselves and our employees hence why I got/get help here if needed as the records stand. I doubt she will get in, too much dirty laundry has been revealed and people are fed up with that - Sarko for instance

As TCN legally resident in France, I don’t get to vote in French elections despite my paying every cent in taxes La France asks from me, so French citizens already have more rights than I do.
I’m not in receipt of any benefits from La France, so I’m pretty sure I’m a net contributor to her finances via my impôts, property taxes and all that TVA which makes me believe I’m only going to get my marching orders if there’s a “citizens only” decree passed in Paris.

if this ever happens, then there will be very few able to bolster up the coffers! Again, she is not stupid and will realise that anyone contributing will be ok. She is after the - dare I say it again here - illegals and scroungers…
France needs a woman president. If the only way to get one is through the RN, then so be it, is what I say. Yes, she has some baggage, but haven’t they all these days? Anyway, it will be cool to have a leader with an ankle tag visiting Moscow and Washington

That is exactly the same sort of thought processes which the Jewish community had in 1939… ..and many people in the USA feel today. The trouble with the type of thinking MAGA or RN or ..or ..or .. is that they keep changing the target

Apparently many people told my grandparents that they were foolish to be planning to leave Germany since they were professional middle class Berliners. They left it late to actually leave, and sent my mother to Switzerland, but got out when so few of the rest of the family did.

.. My point here it was not confined to just Germany ..Once the green light was given there , like minded people throughout Europe jumped on the bandwagon. Places we ignore include Romania ..and there were plenty in France with neighbour envy.

I’d argue that they don’t - it’s more that once they get into power just who the target really was is revealed, and when legislation is introduced to target “foreigners” it is not usually drafted with a protected group built in.
Farrage has all but promised a totalitarian state to “fix Britain” - you can guarantee - along with slashing benefits, university places, stopping the boats by force, sacking any civil servant that disagrees with them, sacking any judge that disagrees with them (redolent of 1930’s Germany in a very explicit way those two points) and abolishing the Lords if it tries to stop them - that getting rid of legal migrants will be high on the list of things they will be doing.

The problem Adam is that she may target other nationalities, and it’s fairly clear that Maghreb French will still suffer discrimination, but as we are also technically now a third party nationality we are going to get caught up in discriminatory measures that target third country nationals.
Those of us here under Brexit agreement probably have some protections but legal formal steps may be needed to use them and that could take years.

Well there’s already nearly a million unemployed young people in the Uk who aren’t really interested in those jobs, and 2 million in total. You have to have a vocation for many of those jobs so not just a numbers game, and seems many other national have retained that vocation to care for other that the UK has lost.
