I’m meeting a French architect this afternoon and I need to explain about the drainage on part of our land - I think we will need an outside storage area tanked - what’s the French for this please?

We had to do this years back as the barn was built into land above it. Luckily OH knew how to do this and was a customer of a big UK chemicals company who supplied the 25L drums of basically a liquid tar-like product that he sprayed all round the walls that were against the land. He also did the same for a flat in town that was built into a cliff face to stop dropping water from penetrating the walls. Always known in the trade as tanking. If you do it yourself, make sure you are well covered especially the hands, its a devil to remove.

Always remember that the water you are keeping at bay has to go somewhere.
Your architect is the best person to decide who may well recommend a specialist. By following their advice you have someone to return to should it not work.
I have no doubt that suggestions will follow from armchair builders but stick to specific advice based on your unique situation.

I’m sure that everyone who remembers Carl Douglas already knows this fact but (little social experiment alert) does anyone not know that the name ‘tank’ came from British attempts to ensure the secrecy of the new weapons under the guise of water tanks?

Which is worrying for the current young generations. A chap I follow got ChatGPT to fact check itself on medical things and it really didnt want to carry it out, thus young folks will grow up knowing only what the paymasters want to inform them, switching to an EV wont help the way these Ai runs peoples lives and say the oil companies want to spin a yarn?
