The greatest recording artists .....your choice

My son taught his self to play guitar by ear over one summer holiday…he was thirteen and made his fingers bleed…when he comes to stay with me now two or three times a year then every night is spent singing (and laughing) into the early hours…with songs from so many different genres and eras…

The only time he has sent me a text expressing sadness about someone who has died since I left uk was to do with The Cranberries…

Probably much more my era than his but I love how music crosses pre conceived boundaries…

I’m out of touch with what’s in the charts in the U.K. now but he often sends me a song he likes and asks if I’ve heard it…

So many, easier if I just say what I don’t like, heavy metal, punk and modern jazz.
Saw Tina Turner at the Stade de France on her 50th and 60th absolutely fantastic.

I can listen to pretty much anything, except modern jazz…& disco; but the latter just makes me laugh
But modern jazz gets me feeling that I want to break things…

But this is a rather good offering from some young Ozzie rascals

Took me back to my early childhood… when I was amazed that a voice could go so low… magnificent.

Hearing this song always moves me to tears…

Well I was driving to Toulouse yesterday and put on a Sinatra cd and heard one of his versions. I think he does this classic credit. Robeson has to be the definitive version of course, and yes i’m drawn to tears also Stella
