The unenvionmentally friendly bit - lots of concrete!

On a very hot Friday morning the quality control team arrived on site to watch the concrete pump and lorries arrive to pour the foundations. Breakfast was eaten in the builders van...

The excitement was building when we saw the pump arrive - would it get round the corner?

first it needed a stretch:

Then a check to see how easily it could pass into the old stable:

And we’re ready for the first toupie to arrive: The girls were despatched to school as the temperature climbed to 41 that day! Once in place we began to pour the new foundations for the stairs and the internal supporting walls which will hold the new floor to be put in above.

Onto the second toupie of concrete:

and we’re done!

Now for the drying out…which will be helped by the Mairie fixing the water leak…although I’ve been advised they need an arrêté from the conseil général to block the road (as we’re the main route into the village). Next job…walls!

Nick, the girls have already decided that Jasmine is going to be the architect (good at drawing and very fussy), Izzy will be the engineer (takes her time to think about things, then is very good at taking things apart and then rebuilding them) and Maisy will be a Geologist (good at digging holes, getting muddy and looking at stones). I will project manage (very bossy & usually very organised) We will be your Herault based construction team ;)

You could get a job with us after all this. Experienced project manager.
