I remember reading yonks ago that you lose between 50,000-80,000 neurons a day, never to be replaced.
Me - I’ve only got one brain cell left - any more and I’d be plant life

It’s almost chilly here in Wiltshire. Still only 20 degrees. Thankfully, this time next week it’s forecast to be 33
It is definitely chilly here in Cumbria, supposed to be 19 but feels more like 16 with the wind, forecast to reach 26 next week!
Well, temperature here in D17 has dropped. Sitting upstairs in front of my PC this morning with windows wide open, through which the sun is shining, is making my bare arms feel chilly! It’s 22°C indoors. But I ask myself what would you prefer – to live in an oven or a fridge? Of the two extremes I have to go for the fridge, based on how much the recent heat waves completely disrupted my sense of wellbeing! I’d rather feel too cold than too hot.

Outside temperature down to about 10 last night apparently, and a beautiful clear day now with cool air and strong sun.

Same as you Bonzocat, at least you can put on layers of warm clothing and be active, but cooling down is much harder.

You can always put extra warm clothes on, but Leroy Merlin gets a bit sniffy when you walk in wearing only budgie smugglers and crocs.

Personally, I have no complaint about the weather but I am worried about Europe as a whole. Rivers are running dry and wildlife that depend on them are dying. Does not bode well for humans at the end of the line if Europe suffers desertification like Africa. I never thought I would be praying for rain!

Well…maybe this makes happy reading about the holocene extinction (not)…but at the end of the day, we are made of stardust so in one for or another, we will be something else in billions and billions of years time. 
Was about to get into bed at midnight when thunder and sheet lightning struck. Pitch black outside the window but the smartphone managed to record a few bright flashes for a few minutes but edited to less than a minute – not very exciting – and not much thunder, so the storm was some distance away, in the direction of Bordeaux, and the amount of rain that fell was feeble. The noise is mostly from strong wind through the treetops.
There was forked lightning but it was horizontal, high in the sky, higher than I was holding the phone.
Loud thunder going on this morning, no wind but steady light rain.
I overexposed the video to see the treeline and slowed it all down 50% because the flashes lighting up the sky came and went so quickly. At lightning speed!

I saw the lightning on the western hills but no thunder, and no rain. I was only aware of it when the lovely cool breeze through the open window woke me.
This morning, leaden sky and a little light rain, but no more than that.
We got a heavy shower around 11 with thunder. Blue now and temps going up so fast!!
Fingers crossed - meteo showing over 90% certainty for storms this evening - with hail unfortunately. Here’s hoping it will be rain. I have the water butt rigged up to send its contents straight down the garden to the underground water tank which currently has less than 2 inches of water.
If it happens, this will be our first rain since early May.

We didn’t have any rain yesterday but Stuart was at the lake - about 12km from home and he said he had a 10 minute shower there. It’s hot today so no lunch as such. Too hot to have the cooker on.
We’re just going to have some ice cream instead

I remember the 90s here in France D17 where you could count on grass everywhere, especially in the garden, to be yellow during summers. Regular as clockwork, but not so hot then as now.
