@Susannah maybe not thick just not your point of view. They are human people with their own thoughts and that might not be the same as yours but just as valid. Thick / envious… that is the language of sneering

It is sneering, treating those people like dirt and mal informed and low life. Sorry but that is how it is. What DO you say about those people who do not support your view? I did not say he has no idea how to fix things? Maybe I am wrong on that? I did not say he was not enriched himself … Do you th…

I don’t know but this seems like a sneering thread… looking down your nose as those human people; they are stupid, thick, believe what they are told, blah, blah. Perhaps those on your side believe all they are told? However I do not think that sneering at people and calling them revolting names is a…

I suspect those which are meat eaters are heartily fed up too, and many of the French ![]()

I find that a bit rich @NotALot when IIRC somebody said on SF to a poster that they were sick of their holier than thou attitude when the Brit poster said they spoke French when they were out and about. Although I have to say I might not remember the full gist of it as it was a long time back. I ha…
That’s a great example.
Eating meat, driving a car and travelling by aeroplane made up the list of the most polluting things people can do to the planet. But having children was top , according to the new study, published in the journal Environmental Research Letters
So I reckon one piece of meat a week is not excessive since I have no children, haven’t travelled by plane in 10 years, and try to keep mileage down.
That certainly applies to Mrs Trump and Mrs Johnson

And they pollute in other ways too!
Think that depends on what is being grown, where and how it’s being grown, and where it’s being shipped to.
Around here insect populations are in decline and that’s not due to cattle farming.
I blame Big Farmer. ![]()
I see what you did there.
Something I have wondered for a while, do vegetarians/vegans eat honey??
The former is an emphatic Yes! The latter is no because it involves the ‘exploitation’ of living creatures.
Soon, the plants talking to each other will be telling the venerable olive tree in my garden that he/she has rights and that the annual collecting of its olives by M.Sylvestre is a tragedy of justice.
Plants can talk. Yes, really. Here’s how.

Well I know they move independently, my big indoor plant starts waving its fronds about all of a sudden sometimes and there is no draft or aircon helping it either.
That’ll be a Triffid then
I’ve never done that.
Thats just been on the TV in the 60’s film. Might be my plant’s favourite film, he lives near the telly too.
Don’t let him watch “Little Shop of Horrors”!
That’s scary ![]()

Re the food… that is a difficult one for me, no experience… but willing to learn… (as we all should)… not right for folk to feel uneasy in a crowd, because of their personal food-rules.
Still all too common, I’m afraid Stella. Also one of the reasons we rarely, if ever, participate in commune-organised or local club dos, as the food invariably is not vegetarian-friendly, let alone vegan-friendly.
When I see how my wife struggles to get anything half-decently vegetarian in local eateries in the village, it is no surprise that it hasn’t yet filtered down to the level of the commune/clubs.
Me: would you have anything vegetarian ?
Helper: we’ve got tuna quiche…
with a serious look on their face, not even in jest - the mind boggles.
In the words of a Bavarian waiter I once encountered: “Naja, Speck ist kein Fleisch!” Enough said.
