Is France in danger of becoming the sick man of Europe?
It seems to me, assuming this is an accurate presentation, that whether Left, Right or Centre take power in the next couple of years, a controlling factor will be national debt. Is there any likelihood that the parties of differing sides could work together for the good of the nation, or am I stupid to even consider the question?
Not a chance when you’ve got ideologies involved.
France is now in a right old mess, successive governments have failed to tackle the deficit and growing debt and with at least two more years of parliamentary stalemate the problems won’t be fixed anytime soon.
I’m hoping that the French are wise enough to pay attention to what is happening in the US and avoid that hot mess.
Hopefully there will be some balance of power remaining even if the right looneys take power in 2027. The French might not have a 1st Amendment, but theyknow how to fill the streets if they so desire, unlike the lazy Americans.
