This is what 'Hard Remain' looks like!

Well said, Carol.

There was an opinion poll aboyt who was the best and worst PMs in history. Not surprisingly, Cameroon was voted the worst - I think he is likely to be replaced very soon by May.

A political commenter said last Sunday the every time she opens her mouth, the pound shrinks further. She was incompetent as Home Secretary and even worse as PM.

was it this poll?

these polls blow like the wind, just after brown left he was voted the worst, Iā€™d like to know what makes Call Me Dave the worst, I am a liberal lefty and think there have been worse labour leaders than david

I have know all the post war PMs, well Atlee only just, and I agree that Cameron is the worst PM of the lot and that takes some doing.

There were others whose, honesty I would challenge, whose integrity would be in doubt, who were manipulative lying sh*** , but none of them would have got the UK into the mess that Cameron has done with the Referendum as we are beginning to see.

DC had a complete lack of any foresight, strategic view of the way ahead and the consequences of any actions or decisions. It was all opportunistic, spur of the moment actions and we are left to pick up the pieces.

And just to be clear I am a Tory supporter, indeed worked for the party for a few years.

Sad to say I am not impressed with TM, though she has been set an almost impossible task with the pubic having expectations that cannot be met irrespective of your opinion and reasonably ensure we do not in effect self destruct our economy.

All thus set against a potential major economic melt down as all the consequences of the 2008 crash and the insane policies adopted by the Central Banks since then, the post war economic policy of borrow and spend. And that applies to all the major economies of the world, including China who managed to screw their economy in rapid time.

Have a nice weekend.

Yes I agree most of the those who voted to leave never grow or even eat fresh fruits and vegetables!
How sad is that?
Most of the exit voters are totally unaware of the devastation they are causing.
Yes many growers rely on eastern europian hard work to take care of their
crops and keep their business alive. Because the great British moaners are
too proud and too lazy to entertain this type of employment.
How sad is that?
Ah well they live on marks and sparks ready mades, pre prepared garlic and tinned
vegetables.fresh products rarely see the light of day in the tiny kitchens.
And slightly further off course I must add that by Brexit cousin has been waiting just about a year for an x ray of a possibly cancerous mark/spot on her nose. She had cancerous tissue on the other side of her nose. Here upon a declaration of back ache the x fay was taken a few days after the consultation with doctorā€¦appointment time strictly kept and after less than half an hour the patient leaves the premises with the print out of the x ray,
A few days latter a meeting with the doctor tells you allā€¦
Well just to say that we have made the right choice by moving to France.
Even just for the sake of our healthā€¦without good healthcare you have nothing!

I couldnā€™t agree with you more.

We have reached the age where the house and garden are a bit too much for us so we are thinking about downsizing/ changing the way we live.

a) We could stay where we are and have a gardener. That is not cheap but given the cost of moving maybe a possibility,

b) Move to a smaller house in France that we can manage, The running costs would be a lot less, no gardener, etc. but a significant cost impediment.

c) Move back to the UK. But the medical system seems to be such a mess(as you and others have described) and which is the biggest deterrent.

And the running theme through all of this is Brexit and the inevitable uncertainty of all that clearly involves for well not quite the indefinite future but it will seem like that.

The management seminars I used to run as part of my work almost invariably ended with the sentence that:

ā€œEverything is changing so fast in such unpredictable ways, that the process of management has become the process of managing change.ā€

Peter the world we live in gives us the opportunity to explore and create contacts and from those contacts we sometimes find a way to carry on.

We came here almost 9 years ago and extended our life style from Londonā€¦just taking out all the ugliness of screeching traffic and nonsensical situations.

We bought a stunning property and sell a dream holiday to those who can and wish to afford what we offer.

As I have said before it is going very wellā€¦still!

But we need to do less of the physical stuff like taking care of our mini Holland Park.

Maybe we stay just were we are and develop what we offerā€¦getting over people to inject their energy.

I know that there are many people planning to escape to Franceā€¦so lets help them.

Your management courses Peterā€¦

You could teach people to manage their move, their futureā€¦

We are in the same areaā€¦I notice I am in 33890.

We must be close - my GP is in Gensac though my local shopping area is of course Ste Foy.

As for helping people that move overseas (from the UK) I am involved with though very early days with an organisation that is set up to offer help and guidance to Brits who are resident in the UK but own property overseas.

I am at present trying to get the management clarify their ideas on exactly what they are trying to achieve.

It is my plan to be more up front about this project if and when it gets off the ground. Watch this space as they say.

We are in Gensacā€¦well 1km from the village.

The most most condescending sweeping statements Iā€™ve read for a long time. You have absolutely no idea what most of those that voted to leave eat or where they buy their food from let alone the size of their kitchens. A stupid, ignorant, snobby attitude of patronizing superiority.
I voted to remain.

David you may well find that many British people have never made friends with their cooker.Look at the number of ready made meals sold in all the stores and companies in UK.

All the leavers I have come across seem to meet my description.

But not every one is interested in food and who picks it.

Without the eastern European pickers of fruit and veg there will be a problem because British people do not want to do that workā€¦

that David is where the snobbery really comes onto the scene.

Maybe I am a food snob, ignorant noā€¦but I have my ideas just like youā€¦

Over the last ten years (the time Iā€™ve spent in France) the chiller cabinets in French supermarkets have been filled with more and more ready meals, the freezers have been filled with more and more frozen meals, vegetables and heavily processed foods. France has the same consumption per capita as the UK with regards to canned foods, Sweden being the highest so itā€™s not a British thing. Remember France is the second most profitable country in the world for Macdonalds after the USA. Of course you have your ideas, no matter how patronizing and absurd they may be, but as I said in my earlier post you have absolutely no idea what most of those that voted to leave eat or where they buy their food from let alone the size of their kitchens.

I have let the whole BREXIT thing pass me byā€¦I could not vote and even if I could I would never have done as I donā€™t live in the UK. It is for those who live in the UK to decide. I respect their decision.

BUT, BUT, BUTā€¦one thing I have learned reading around the subject is that those who voted to remain tend to be the most extremist in the views about the whole thing and towards others who voted out. How does that work ?

If there was a vote in France, the outcome I guess would generally be the same. 50:50 split.

Let it goā€¦as Elsa would say.

Mike, thank goodness someone understands negotiating. I, like you, think this is what will happen. It seems perfectly obvious. Iā€™s amazing that the public supposedly donā€™t trust politicians but are willing to accept every word they say as their hard line position on things.

I know all the idiots are meant to be on the side of Brexit but there was a woman who voted remain on the news the other day who is now convinced that when we leave we will have another Great War when Europe attacks us.

People shopped differently. They went to the nearest greengrocer.

Just look what happens when the Spanish market is affected.
Murcia is one huge outdoor and indoor growing area and you see the fields full of eastern European and north African workers.
Lorries crossing Europe all the time taking their salad and veg to market.

I think that you will find the answer to all this soon enough Mark.
Those of us who do not wish to banish Europeans from UK will not
only be without possessive and a selfish attitude towards Britain but
will have worked out that the divorce will not be a happy one.
On top of that what will become of us Brits in EUROPEā€¦still no
clear answersā€¦
The rest of the answers will unfold.

Fascinating to read that you are a Tory supporter Peter - Iā€™ve been looking at this thread and thinking I agree with most of your views - and I am a life-long socialist!

It wouldā€™nt be impossible for farmers to find sufficient labour, if those on the dole were made to work for their money. The same as it wouldā€™nt be impossible, for the UK to have an efficient NHS or sufficient Police on our streets, if we didā€™nt give billions to other countries, some of which have developed nuclear weapons, and are more than capable of looking after themselves. But then the British have become an ā€œI canā€™t be botheredā€ nation. It matters not whether we like the Brexit result or not. Had the huge numbers that didā€™nt bother to vote, got off their backsides, it may have been different, OR it may have been a bigger leave vote. The fact is the democratic vote was that we leave, and itā€™s up to the dictatorship that the UK is left with, thanks to Labour and the rest of the clowns, to get us the best deal possible. As far as immigration goes. Itā€™s very simple. A strict points system variable to the needs of the country. The main criteria being, if you cannot contribute to the country, and or support yourself, or if you are not prepared to respect the culture, traditions, and laws of Britain, you cannot live in Britain.

And what if you are British, and all those things apply? What then? Foreigners at least have some excuseā€¦
