Great piece Ciro and I thoroughly agree with your analysis, the "fear of God" allowed the western world to be ruled/contained/suppressed for centuries as you say, once things are really questioned the cat's out of the bag and people can see the wood for the trees. BUT the Muslim world you talk about is centuries behind and that's the danger in disillusioned individuals being easily brainwashed into carrying out such atrocious acts. Let's hope that for all the problems modern technology causes, that it will also enable the veil to be lifted (yes both senses) and for people to open their minds. I also believe that oil has played such a major part in the western world’s involvement/intervention, and still is, in the Muslim world and that it will continue whilst the reserves are still there and whilst we’re so dependant on it.
