The next stop after Marseille on the 2013 Tour de Finance is just a short hop (well by French standards!) along the coast to Narbonne. We had a great family holiday in the area a few years back and it is somewhere I’m longing to return to. The venue for the Tour de Finance event is ideally located for exploring both Narbonne itself and the nearby coast, so why don’t you pop the date in your diary and book a ticket now?

When we visited the area, the kids were smaller so we spent a lot of time exploring the beaches. One we didn’t get to and that I would love to visit, is Gruissan. It’s about 20 km south of Narbonne and has wonderfully unusual stilted beach huts.

Narbonne itself is a lovely place to wander around and some of the architecture is breathtaking. The Cathedral de St-Just et St-Pasteur is the only Gothic cathedral in the Med region that comes anywhere close to rivalling those in northern France and the Archbishop’s Palace (now housing museums and the Hôtel de Ville) is another Gothic masterpiece.

And when you’re tired of strolling around, you can treat yourself to a coffee and one of the regional specialities, a “bouchon du Languedoc” which is a biscuit made of honey, almonds and pine nuts.

The day starts with a welcome coffee at 9.30 and is scheduled to finish around 2.30, giving you plenty of time to explore Narbonne.

During the morning there will be a number of short seminars. The subjects addressed will cover a range of subjects including healthcare and financial advice, plus tax, pensions and currency transfers. Issues affecting property letting and holiday rentals will also be covered.

The organisers are kindly providing a free buffet lunch. This will give you plenty of opportunity to chat to the speakers outside of the seminars and ask any specific questions on topics that might not have been covered.

The event is a wonderful opportunity to receive free expert advice on a wide range of subjects and to meet up with other people from the local area, so I really do recommend that you come along. And...there’s even a chance to win prize draw vouchers worth £250 courtesy of The British Corner Shop. All you need to do is register. Mmm, golden syrup...

Places are limited but SFN readers can pre-book by simply following the link below. If Narbonne is too far away, don’t worry, the Tour de Finance continues throughout March and April and the venues are all listed below. Simply click on the venue of your choice to book.
