Tour de France 2025

One year, the Tour was due to come near us and we were all warned about “fake” Tour stuff… and, sure enough, the day before the Tour was due we had folk knocking on our doors selling all sorts of “souvenirs”… just overpriced trash.
The “real stuff” came round on the day itself… and mostly it was free.

The nearest to me will be Toulouse to Narbonne and even that is a good hour away so won’t be visiting just for a few minutes of a blur.

Narbonne isn’t on the 2025 route. Nearest to you is Muret to Carcassonne, stage 15. Rest day after that and they resume from Montpellier

Has a road near you been resurfaced recently for no apparent reason?
If so then the Tour may be coming near you!
Seriously though it is a spectacle everyone should experience at least once. Its all great fun, especially the caravanne for children scooping up all the goodies.
The tour de limousin is just as good.
The noise at the finish when everyone is banging their hands on the barriers is amazing.

Here’s a slightly more readable version of that (click to enlarge)

It is termly boring unless you are at the beginning or end of a stage, all roads on the route are closed which can make it a little awkward if you are on the route or need to use the route. But what makes it fun is the caravan ,this refers to all the sponsors which come through almost immediately before the sea of Lycra, the sponsors throw small packets of biscuits and pens /assorted knick knacks t-shirts stuff with the sponsors name on it. The tour has been through my little town twice and it is very difficult to ignore or avoid.

The village main road past our house was resurfaced, with it’s first ever white lines and marked out “pavements” too. The local farmers/FN supporters took over a side street with benches brollies and tables for their fete. No facemasks although COVID was still rife. Our more left wing neighbours organised a party next door edging on the street. Those who came in cars from elsewhere were mostly kept at a slight distance by crowd barriers although a few occupied our smaller orchard over the road. It was a beautiful sunny day and great fun.

It’s fun. We went into the nearest town, where all the shops had bicycles in the windows and there qas rwnaissance dancing, a big sound system, lots of atuff happening. See if you can get involved with any local crews decorating: one farmer along the route did a tour de france crop circle!
