As a family we prefer the ocean and we often used to brave the North Sea back in the UK.

Wife and I aren’t great swimmers so are happy to splash about close to the shore, the kids on the other hand are all former competition swmmiers and qualified life guards so are confident to go quite a way out.

It is quite possible that you have a Plan d’eau near to you, where swimming is allowed. Ask at your nearest Tourist Office or Mairie…
