Whats for Dinner Tonight?

Travers de porc on the barbecue to morrow.
We finished the leek frittata with the first of the season’s asparagus. Our own eggs and the veg from the garden.

We’ve gone from 48 hours of intense red alert wondering how on Earth we would cope as a family if her toe or foot was amputated to hope that this might not now be the case now she’s in safe hands…still all on red alert but marginally diffused by her transfer to a specialist ward…

Well thats as good as it gets Helen, She is in the best place, to receive the correct care, but still astounded it took so long!

I know…I’m in Brittany…(with her blessings)…my sister is in Canada…sometimes I wish my mom wasn’t so kind and understanding…she broke her shoulder bone a few years ago…plates and pins to mend it but she had to endure another op to remove the plates and pins as they were breaking through her skin…all involved admit that it was a bodge job but the lasting effects for my mom is that her shoulder bone isn’t knitted together…there’s a permanent “gap” in her bone structure…When questions get asked of my own daughter/ her granddaughter about my moms mental state in 1999 when she lost my dad…rather than address her current physical problems…I have to admit that I’m not as genial as she is…

We have just had asparagus and goats cheese risotto and pink rhubarb and cinnamon tart for lunch.
Both the asparagus and the rhubarb came from the garden.
To go with that we had some Saint Veran Vielles Vines from one of our favourite vignerons Roger Lucquet at Fuisse.

Lamb/Prune tajine, from last night, instead of freezing it, not a hardship :slightly_smiling_face:

OH gone to Ikea today, what do you think I might be getting? :poop::poop:

Ruby out of a jar tonight (Lidl), with mushroom bahji, rice and naans.

I’d fancy pickled herring, Kalle’s caviar and dill crackers, smoked reindeer but fingers crossed for a couple of cases of Kopparberg :beers:

Not tonight…but the other night… back from the Charente to an empty fridge…and with 2 unexpected (but delightful) friends…so…

Simple supper: Soupe Poissons de Roche & de Fond, to which I added ready-cooked mussels, prawns and squid bits from the freezer…:kissing_smiling_eyes::blush::smiley:

Crowning glory was the rouille we spread liberally on our bread before dipping it in the steaming, wonderful concoction… :hugs:

None of us feared vampires that particular night… :upside_down_face::wink::wink::wink:
