Where are you getting your fix since Brexit

Thanks for that Vero! I had been looking at on-line deliveries from various specialist outlets but the first ones I found had incredible delivery charges so I was rather hoping I might find it somewhere I’d missed…

I get one in my letter box every Monday but ***'s law says the one I don’t read will have it in

I don’t get the paper one but a notification pops up on my screen when the online version comes out.

Angela, checking online will give you the following weeks’ catalogue also.
Check for your local store because they do vary what’s on offer, rather like Intermache!

Interest you sgould mention Intermarche, Lily because in my hunt for Halloumi, I found a reference to Intermarche selling Salakis brand “grilling cheese” which was claimed to be halloumi under another name. Unfortunately not my local Intermarche or I’d be in there to check!

Didn’t someone mention somewhere (perhaps on another thread) that it is really easy to make?

Yes they did! I looked at it carefully and decided that my cheffing skills weren’t quite in that league

(Might have been Vero - she seems to be frighteningly multi-talented…)

Not made it myself since I can buy it but here’s a recipe (and you can get rennet in Grand Frais)

Agreed. Decent punch to this stuff. And so cheap! A huge jar for just cents over 1€. I dollop loads over diced pork while sauteing … ends up fab mustard gravy

The best for lapin à la moutarde too - couple of good dollops of mustard then one of creme fraîche a bubble or two et voilà

Like the rest of you l checked out Lidl during their Greek promotion, but nothing. I’ll have to look out for the salakis grilling cheese in lntermarche. The online stores are too expensive!

My lidl didn’t either :frowning:

Perhaps no-one knew what to do with it! They always have loads and loads of cheese for raclette, which I’ve never really got to grips with and certainly wouldn’t work anything like halloumi!

I tried to see if other (bigger) Intermarche outlets had the Salakis grilling cheese but my mal-functioning computer now won’t look at the Intermarche site… grrrrrr

Raclette cheese is fab - love a good Raclette - what dont’ you get about it? I also use it to make grilled cheese sandwiches, very melty and very tasty!

great for sharing round a table on the patio (when you can be sociable again)…

Basically, how you eat it! I know I’m a bit slow…
I found zillions of different ideas for how you melt it but not what you do with it once you have

So with the machine that Graham posted about you have a selection of meats / veg that you grill on the top (mine is larger than that one - an 8 person one with a proper stone top). You prepare a big pot of potatoes (in skin, quite small - medium). When your cheese and saussison etc is cooked you cut the potato in half, top with meat and cheese. Serve with cornichons etc and a salad. Really naughty but very yummy and a really social all around the table meal!

So a bit like a fondue? (Still struggling here as no modern gadgets)

not unlike fondue really… either cheese or (our favourite) meat on forks cooked in oil - filet is best for this, cubed and each can decide just how cooked (or not) to eat their portions. brilliant!

is there Vegemite in France??? in SuperU? that would make my day. Far superior product. We’re even allowed to import it still I think, as it’s not meat-based.

We always had the larger jars of it at home as a kid and I miss those.

For a while I worked at Unilever, who make Marmite. Our staff shop was full of all the sizes, all the special editions, at incredibly reasonable prices. Sadly they were of no interest to me  .
