People warning others of sources of danger is not being negative, it’s being protective.
I am sorry you feel that way @Bosendorfer but I do agree with @Susannah that the inevitable thread drift (my asking you about LBC was another example of it) was a genuine seeking of truth in the dog world which, while wonderful to most of us, has also a far darker side which is better revealed than otherwise.
BTW I did look at LBC but found it very frustrating. I went to the animal section specified dogs but found many cats in the ensuing list. So I tightened my search by asking for Grand Chiens and was treated to page after page of dogs of all sizes but mainly about cages, kennels and the like. I didn’t see anything to alarm me as others have but would not care to use it for a search engine if I wanted a dog of a certain type.
Dear Sir, I agree whole heartedly with Jane Jones. Of course language we think is important but it is not, so much, with dogs. It is body language, eye contact and tone. You will be absolutely fine. Treat your dog with kindness, as I expect you will and the rewards will be immense. He looks beautiful, and I am a sucker for good looking dogs, but for me they are all good looking. I wish you many happy days, where you both find you have found the perfect family. I hear what you say about comments on the site but I would say most do say what they say in an attempt to offer help. It is all down to how you take the feedback. I do not comment much on stuff on the site because it would be easy to get sucked into the Facebook/YouTube world. I read, listen and learn. Anyway, if you chuck it out there looking for advice, then be prepared to get all sorts back. If you don’t like the feedback from some then just ignore it. That is your prerogative. Personally, I think that if you do not have a dog, then you have no place making a comment, if you do, then by all means make a comment, but at least state your bona fides first. Thank you for giving this dog a home Monsieur Bosendorfer. I am sure you will not be disappointed. Every day is a learning day for you both. ![]()
We find each of our (French born) border collies have understood French commands given by French people, despite us teaching in English. Maybe the tone and gestures help, it would not have been from the breeders, each taken at 8 weeks old.
