So apparently today is World Baking Day, I don't need much of an excuse to bake so today I'm making Bagels, savoury muffins and grainy rolls. Are you baking today?

They look great Maria :)
An excellent site for amateurs and professionals alike. Australian based with an extensive library of recipes.
Looks like I'll have to bake my own...again! But thanks...
Usually around 11am. Can you make it for then?
What time is that? I'll be traveling from the UK though (lol)!
Bread just out of the oven … multi seeded batch. Along with that a date walnut and apple loaf and chocolate/pistachio brownies. Can’t wait for coffee time tomorrow!
I will give them a go, thanks!
Absolutely, only too delighted! Most of my recipes tend to come from the BBC Good Food website, so they're nothing clever but here it is - I tend to halve all the ingredients as I usually only need 15 /16 biscuits, but we're getting busy in the chambre d'hote (hooray) I'll probably go with the whole amounts here:

These provide a lovely accompaniment to one of our favourite desserts, a homemade lemon yogurt - scrummy!
Can we have the recipe for lemon biscuits please Charlotte?
Wow, these all look amazing, you're clearly all super-talented bakers! That puts me to shame, I was feeling pretty impressed with myself for making lemon biscuits - although they are pretty yummy and make the house smell fantastic...
Black olive and sun dried tomato rolls.
Sesame seed buns.
10 Day old poolish, this is great. Free yeast (almost)!
Basic white loaf.
Poppy seed bagels, I love making these!
Loaf and bagels prooving.
I think that will do for today!
That looks nice and light David, very impressive.
Here’s one of mine. Yorkshire Sleepy White.
Got it! Thanks James. They look great.
Looks lovely Chris!
I bake bread about every other day... but today, whilst the oven was on and because the weather is not quite good enough to decorate the outside of the house, I thought 'sod it', here goes... I knocked up an onion and goat's cheese tart with Breton Rosé onions, scorched red peppers, sliced aubergines and dusted it with grated parmesan and cherry tomatoes... Though I say it myself it was very good. Micki made a madeira cake with marmalade and lime curd. But we didn't know it was world baking day... We did it 'just because'!
Susan, sourdough bread, mmm.
I made some German type 'Sauerbrot' on Friday - which is nearly pure rye flour and the yeast made up in plain yoghourt with sour cream added when it foams up. I only do it every few months, but this time my daughters have just scoffed the lot today and up until lunch today and are demanding more. So, I'll put up the recipe soon. I'll make it again though and weigh the ingredients because it is one I have made for so many years I do it by eye and cannot quantify any of it myself.
Yes I do, it's the River Cottage one http://www.survivefrance.com/profiles/blogs/homemade-bagels
I have a 10 day old poolish that I'm using for all bread now, very satisfying!
Yum! Do you have a good recipe for bagels? I'm not baking my weekly batch of sourdough bread until tomorrow.
