Tory - both you and @vero have been really kind with the information concerning me learning to crochet and I owe it to both of you to get my finger out and do something about it this winter. I promise (Girl Guides honour) that I will learn to crochet and then send you a photo of my work. Don’t expect too much though. But I will try - honest injun

Thank you! The coloured bits are that nice multicoloured sock wool you get so easily in Germany. I made it for my new granddaughter, didn’t have a pattern or anything so I kept holding what I’d made against a baby sized teddy bear and just crossed my fingers it would fit.

Before Covid we had a lovely middle-aged German couple stay a couple of weeks. They spoke no English so she and I used Google translate, lots. He was in a wheelchair, having crashed his motorbike at 18, she had been his nurse, now wife. They brought a video made by a German film crew of the occasion he travelled 3,000 kms by hand bike to Santiago de Compostela.
The middle weekend it rained, continuously. By Monday, she had knitted two pairs of multicoloured wool socks - one pair for me, the other for OH. She just guessed our respective sizes. The socks were wonderful.

Update, was in Tedi today and they have a big selection of yarn, I’d say probably bigger than action.

It’s what I use for baby stuff because it’s real wool but washable and not bulky.
