Some advice please? Due to complete sale transaction in a few weeks time buyer is interested in some of my furniture, it’s only a holiday home so not much but all practically new. Initially she offered less than 1/2 what I wanted for the items, so I said no. Now I have sent a list of prices and reduced prices slightly, I need to arrange a van to transport the stuff back to NI, which will probably cost more than the value of the items, so I need to know. I emailed to ask if she was interested and this is the response :“Je vous donnerai dans la journée la liste des meubles que j’aimerai vous acheter.” Does this mean she wants to tell me on day of completion? If so I can’t do this because I need to arrange the collection? Could anyone suggest how I could politely say I need to know before the completion date (in french)?
Thanks Sandy, I do think that is what she is thinking. No Katherine she didn’t come back to me that day or a few days later. We are just going to hire a van and bring it all back, irish ferries have a brilliant offer on at present less than £250 return, and prob cost about £250 for van. But that is a good idea about advertising.
Could be during the day that she's written this note to you, or she's referring to the day of sale.
A word of advice, on the day it is likely that - knowing you're desperate to move out since she will take possession - that she will offer a fraction of the price with a 'take it or move it all out immediately' notice.
In your shoes, I would start to advertise everything now and tell her where you are listing it. She can buy it as it is being sold at the price advertised and you may get rid of it to others who are happy to pay a fair price. As you said it's not worth transporting back to NI so you're happy to get rid of it. Whatever doesn't sell, get a local charity to collect at the end of the sale and before you vacate A far better taste in the mouth than the sour taste of being screwed over by your buyer ....
She says she will give you the list of what she wishes to purchase within the days end… You shoulda have it by now.
