Funding Energy Efficient Projects

Went to see a man in regional urbanism office today about Energy Efficient funding/loans etc for the house, he turned out to be a very serious chap, tap tapping everything into his laptop, after providing last 4 years tax returns, all estimates from trades, children's shoe sizes etc...maisy promptly pee'd all over his floor. I tried really really hard not to laugh.

It was all quite confusing to be honest...Ademe, Adil, PIC Anah...RGE...

Apparently the rules are changing again...he said they changed 1st Sept but haven't been voted in yet but in December should be...so I have no idea what is current and what isn't...it's a job to keep up with them. Still trying to make head and tail of it all, navigating another set of websites and I need to go to see another department...think I will resort to putting a nappy back on Maisy next time I have an important meeting...clearing up pee pee in the middle of it is somewhat of a distraction!

It is worth to note that in Germany loads of funding for energy efficient projects have been taken out and a guy who is feeding energy into the grid is now being taxed as a "energy-provider" ;-) At the same time the government does not allow self-supplying energy. This is NOT yet so here in France. If I did and advise to invest into solar and wind by not applying for credits or anything that is making you dependent on a scheme. I think its not so much about taking advantage of funding, they can be revoked by the next government while your are still on the hock. It is far more about having the luxury of being independent and the peace of mind, that when the nukeplants are out of their lifetime buzz and must be shut down, you still have your devices working without a bank telling you some obscure "technicalities". I'm very sure any future French government must do the same like the German government to raise tax revenues because they can't touch the 1% who need their cash for fracking and gets tax rebates for their "investments", - the UK clearly leads the way in this issue....

Yeah I also heard that new rules were coming out....in my case with regards to ANAH and Bâtiments de France (why oh why did Sorèze have to become a grande site the year after I bought my ruin...)

I agree it's very confusing but if I don't change my windows soon they are going to fall off.

Although I may well freeze to death by then.....

Jane is spot on.

I have French friends who would love to install PV, insulation etc etc.

But as things stand, it makes no economic sence.

If you are a French Tax payer, then there were amounts that you could claim back on, ie not pay as much tax.

But some how its very skewed here. If I were to commercially get folk in from around Europe at good prices.. Then it is possible to get your energy saving done a lot cheaper than if Grants were available.

ie, The Pv panel market is now becoming cost effective without any subsidies from government. (Not here yet).

If you can DIY to a good standard the costs savings are very very good.

I think that the grants for eco-projects are going back up again. When we did ours we got the maximum allowable, which actually turned out to be less than OH thought it was, so make sure that you can claim everything.

The grants are only allowed if the items are installed by professional installers, so if you are capable and have time it might turn out cheaper to DIY.
