Nord VPN deal

Just looking through this and seems quite a good deal.

https://nordvpn.com/offer/pricing/

It’s always on offer at a similar price. Once one offer ā€˜expires’, the next one comes along a few days later.

Ah a bit like uk furniture sellers

If you code ā€œPewDiePieā€ you get another 4 months free at that price

FWIW, since I only need a VPN for short periods, I use Mullvad which is €5 a month flat rate, no special offers, no annual discounts, no long-term contracts, it’s always €5 and you dip in and dip out as required. And they don’t keep any record of who you are, so no marketing bumph.

The issue I have with other options like PIA that I used is iPlayer took about 48hours to block it so making it useless.

I received this morning an email from Nord VPN about a data breach. Anyone else received one?

I’ve blanked out my name/email address on the screenshot.

EDIT: Just looked at the web address Meetic.fr - this is a dating website! I don’t do dating websites - how did that get there?

Haven’t had anything from NordVPN, but if you do use it then you can login to your account (NOT using a link from the email !) and check there if the Dark Web Monitor agrees with the email. If not, then it’s probably a scam email of some sort.
Currently, I’m getting an increasing number of scam emails purporting to be Uber (I do have an account) with a 2FA ā€˜confirmation code’ to log into my account. After the first few, when I never opened the app, I did open it and it didn’t trigger a 2FA code so it’s either an attempted scam or someone is trying to access my account from another device.

I’m finding Surfshark to be very reliable having subscribed a couple of weeks ago. Generally with the tv, having the vpn running on my new Apple tv box seems a lot better than on the tv itself -Sony Bravia. BBC Sounds also rock stable on my MacBook.

I spoke with Nord VPN and uploaded a screen shot of their email about the data breach regarding a number of websites I’ve logged into going back to 2013! All is OK as far as I’m concerned. Not a problem. Potential access to bank accounts is concerning but mine are voice and fingerprint protected.

Good to hear they have sorted themselves out - I tried SurfShark a few years ago (also with Macs and other Apple devices) and it was hopeless.

I don’t need a VPN very often these days, but when I do I use Mullvad - €5 a month with no fixed term subscription, you just switch it on and pay your money as and when you need it.

Though I notice that the Firefox web browser now comes with a VPN option.

Anyone tried it? Obviously thinking of the TV when we get to France. There are occasionally offers for Nord but reading this thread maybe not.

I’m not sure it would work with a TV it’s for browsing websites?

Agreed but its also the browser on my TV

OK makes sense. But I am not sure if the TV app version has the VPN feature, or if it would also act as a VPN for the rest of the stuff on the TV.

I tried it briefly - made the imgur images on Harmony Central visible - but it’s not something I expect to use much.
