Stove top fans, why you need one!

I have a friend in Tarbes that does all this. He does good and I will get him to advertise on here and he maybe able to help buy and fit.

My remark was not directed at the manager of this site and if you review the numerous posts lauding the price advantage of shopping ex-UK, I don’t believe that my observation was inaccurate. Where people finally decide to buy is of course another question.

Having lived in New Orleans, we used ceiling fans to move the air. They can be switched from summer to winter usage and moves air in the entire room.

That’s fine if it creates a warm draft but could create a cold one. Specifically we are discussing small stove top non electric supply. I used a bigger fan, mains to really get things moving which was fine for a while but became annoying

All stove top fans are not equal. This well engineered fan out perfoms the others through better design.

Unfortunately that looks like the one that we bought which only lasted a few months.

I’ve just seen the new posts on this thread which was started in 2014.

Bizarrely enough I’ve recently got our stove top fan back and it’s now in use again !

When we installed a pellet stove it became superfluous to requirements so I passed it onto my daughter. She then moved and the new place had a built in ventilation system for the wood burner. So she handed it back.

I then passed it onto a friend.

He got it out of storage a couple of days ago and it’s now happily working its magic on top of the stove.

Funny how life works out !

Looking like and actually being are quite different. There are lots on many sites looking similar. Better ones have the bi metalic spring lift on the bottom to protect the TEG unit. I would like to know if it was the actual one as I am going to order one. They also have an improved version the viking which looks even better as it has heat conducting fins to bring hotter radiance but away from the TEG unit so as not to over heat but not cheap at circa £100.

Edit: if you still have your failed one Jane, I would be happy to repair it for you, lots of TEG generators in my store box,

Stove top fans are an interesting anomaly because they don’t directly consume any power that one is paying for, rather they’re sort of parasitic like ivy (but without the downside). Our stove top does it’s job well - it may not be the most efficient, but rather it is sufficient for our needs, whereas if it was super efficient, it might be too super efficient!

Agreed to an extent, the video showed how some fan blades pushed outwards rather than forwards. Glad to see some UK based design and thought going into them. I also watched another gadet this morning, the reco heat exchanger and how that really pushed the heat out into the room, just the noise of the air coming from the nozzle which was annoying.

Thank you, but it ended up in metal bin at recyclerie. I think the problem might have been that we have an 11kW stove so could have been too hot.
