One would assume heat up time, not per say for the hob itself but inducting that into the pan. When a chef was cooking on one on a stand next to mine at an exhibition, he wispered dont buy one its too slow. Dont know any more than that.
My wife chose gas in our family home rebuild for that very reason, but weāve no gas here and we werenāt going to the expense of a tank etc. etc.
In a gƮte? Anything that can be turned on will be!
Remember to factor in cost of new pans, if yours arenāt a match.
Sitting with friend who has just changed to plug and play appliances and induction hob. She says itās fast.
As a technology thats true but not all hobs are created equal.
The lower power ones sort of power share if you bang the hobs all on full power together.
Mine seems to do two at full āspeedā - but once anythings at the boil etc they tick along at a third power and the third can do full power then.
If you put 3 on full power its slow in comparison
OK. That makes sense.
If it is just a question of it being slow, then for the price I can live with it.
I already have the 6mm cable, and as it is not difficult to lay behind the units to find the box, and I have no other use for it, I shall lay it so if the 3500W is a failure, I can slip in a 7200W easily.
Thanks everyone!
Iāve had a four ring induction hob for several years and the only time Iād put any ring on full power (9) would be to quicky bring something to boiling point (and then turn down to 5 or lower).
I canāt imagine needing to have three rings on full power simultaneously. Apart from boiling, I never need to go above 7 (le Creuset griddle, or occasional fast finishing of a reduction).
Iāve seen 2 ring induction hobs, that run off a 13A socket, but not a 3 ring one.
Any other type of electric hob is many times slower than an induction hob. I have a three ring 4 Kw and its very fast, even with all three rings on. Thing is, the rings are different sizes and therefore different powers for different sized pans. Induction hobs are also very efficient although Iāve noticed that the efficiency depends upon the quality of the pan. Weāve always used gas before and our induction is quicker than gas and just as controllable.
We were looking for the same thing. I found this: Cheap 13 Amp Plug In Induction Hobs Deals at Appliances Direct
Obvs a UK firm, but you would get some useful pointers of serial numbers of what is available in FR.
