Advice on Solar

I think that is a good start, it will only be using around 15% of the electriciy of full speed but only flowing around a 1/3 of full speed so run time should be around 24 hrs. Baring in mind this is a generalisation and we have not plotted the flow rates at given RPM’s and the electrical usage, if you have a 0.75hp pump, running around 1400 RPM for 24 hours is the same electricity consumption as you used before in 3.5 hours of filtering.

What does your pressure gauge show?

Hi I measured the sand filter and it is 60cm. Thanks for the link to Naked Energy I will have to look at their prices.

Pressure is about 2.5 bar and it is a 0.5 hp pump

Wow thats high! At 1400 rpm I would have expected no more than 6 PSI (0.5 bar)

My mistake it is 2.5 psi

Thats much better.

Indeed, they spotted our pool. Installed by a previous owner over 30 years ago and never declared by any notaire or owners before us.
So we owned up, no fine and taxes only due from date of declaration.

Having re jig’d my setup for a few improvements I am happy to say the mk3 air scour worked really well for backwashing the filter. Std filtering flow (my low energy flow) + a bit as the filter was dirty and air to do a lot of the lifting and separating of the filter media. This process is done on commercial water treatment filters and its high time we utilised it on domestic pools as they backwash quite poorly in most cases and use a lot of water doing so. I know the Dryden Aqua site says its not necessary and I have taken this up with one of their senior engineers on more than one occasion. I will take a look later and see if I lost any filter media and I can make further adjjstments via the speed controller for the air pump.

Is it possible to tuck this liner back in?

(Yes I know the water needs a little work?)

Sometimes, how old is the liner?

Unfortunately I don’t know

If more than 10 years they can go brittle and trying anything can end in disaster. Vinyl shrinks as it ages with the loss of plasticers. Usually why they pull out.
