My expensive mobile phone bought on Amazon developed a fault. The screen became almost unreadable. I followed the Amazon instructions for returning it for repair under warranty. I posted it on 20 Aug. It was repaired and ready to collect at a local shop 25 Aug. That is 5 days in total (including a weekend). The whole process was simple, easy to follow and amazingly quick and, best of al, didn’t cost a penny.
I’ve been having trouble trying to send back an order to amazon.de. La Poste say the return label has an unacceptable address and won’t arrive. After some back and forth with Amazon today they sent me an email saying, No need to return the order. You can donate, recycle, or dispose of it. Result!
I had that once or twice on low cost orders.
€52, I suppose they can just about afford it…
I had that with a DPD label from a website in Germany. DPD are somehow linked with Deutsche Post which has advantages and disadvantages. I am certain the French DPD depot couldn’t work with the DPD label generated by Germany, but they sent it back to .de anyway and I was refunded.
The replacement arrived smashed and this time DPD refused saying they couldn’t read the label. I had to sign an attestation that it had arrived broken (I’d already sent the photos) and was then refunded by German website.
Something similar happened with an Amazon.de order and I did not want them to not have the item back so we agreed I would pay postage at Post Office, emailed the receipt and they promptly refunded postage and product. I have a very good longstanding record with amz across a few countries and I don’t want them to think I am an unprofitable customer or to stop delivering internatiomally.
Which is a bit weird as La Poste own DPD via Geo post
In the same vein, I recently bought a reverb pedal from Thomann in Germany that was faulty. Initially they offered me a store credit and to keep the pedal, but it’s of no use so asked to return it - they offered a refund instead.
