I have reported these idiots to the Gendarmes, they have phoned me to say that they have reported the incident to the President of the chasse involved, big deal!It seems illegal activity is acceptable round here!
You might have a different opinion if you have seen a boar murdered in front of your lounge window, disgusting hobby!
I would not want to see that in my backyard. But calling it murder doesnât help your case.
The thing is, with that light a sentence, and suspended at that, it wonât.
Is there no legal mechanism in France by which the prosecution or the family of the victim can appeal a sentence on the basis that it is too light for the crime?
Or as France is a Latin country, does everyone on the street unofficially know that there is, perhaps, an alternate, privately administered system of justice? I canât think of any other explanation why these instances of zero punishment for capital offences are being tolerated?
What was the position on taking action on any of this Tim17?1
I have a family member who, as a teen, lost an eye because another teen decided to shoot at him long distance with âonlyâ a pellet gun from his own house.
But rather than focus on juveniles, why donât we just say that weapons like this are a bad idea, outside of the armed forces and perhaps police. I donât want a gang of men of any age crashing about at the end of my property, after a well-lubricated lunch, stumbling in mud and over downed trees with guns in hands. And yes, this happens; Iâve seen it more than once.
How interesting. Does one need a licence for a pellet gun in France? Or a paintball gun, as a second choice?
What? She should spend years in prison for a mistake that should be put on the adults?
Well, I havenât got to the adults yet. Obviously whatever punishment she gets, the adults should get at least that too. PLus probably have to pay a serious fine and/ or compensatory sum to the victim. Oh, waitâŚwell, since the victimâs dead, to their family.
But perhaps courts in Latin countries donât work like that.
The more I think about it, there muat be some other system of justice running here.
First or second degree murder
These are not nice creatures. They are sneaky and devious and if cornered would gore you. They breed like crazy and in some areas they are a plague that needs to fixed.
The only problem I have with the hunting lobby is because they claim that they are âmanagingâ the population theyâre standing in the way of a real practical solution.
Where the hell do you live, Texas? Nothing like that would ever, ever happen where we live.
Iâm not sure thatâs really the point There are many things more dangerous than hunting, but hunting is a largely unnecessary activity itâs carried out by half cut men ( certainly where I live) the rules are bent and broken and other people are put in danger.
Thereâs a Law of no more Than 500 meters from a House or any Public. They were Shooting just over The Road From My House I Called The Garndarmarie They Came Straight Out And Give Them a Warning and They moved on Straight away. Donât Go To The Marie Heâs Probably Freinds With Them Next Time Just Call The Lads in Blue. The Problem With The Hunters is They Are a Law of There own and Stick Together and can be Very Vengeful
Only above a certain number of joules, in the UK itâs the same. With compressed air some are very powerful
We reported three incidents to the Mairie but each time were just fobbed off with the usual âweâll speak to the master of the huntâ.
There is very little you can do, La Chasse are a powerful lobby group even at local level and with the Maire being the Master of the Hunt you do have to be a little careful what you say, being British doesnât help either.
I totally agree. It is not sport either. Unless you give the animal a gun to. I mean they could keep the humans under control too. Lol ![]()
Sorry, donât agree. I grew up with all sorts of weapons around me. I know of no-one that shot anyone except those that were in the Armed Forces.
I mainly grew up on a farm, some of my favorite hobbies & sports were huntinâ shootinâ & fishing. Now a days I shoot nothing more lethal than a Nikon DSLR & an Iphone. I certainly wouldnât try to stop anyone doing what I enjoyed as long as they do so safely & within the law.
Shortly after moving to France, an elderly neighbour was showing me her favourite mushrooming spots (an extremely rare privilege).
âNever come here on a Wednesdayâ, she warned âyou may get shot accidentally by the huntersâ
âNo problemâ, I replied âI will make sure I have a radio with me on full volume. Then I wonât get shot accidentally.â
âNoâ, she said, âyou will almost certainly get shot on purposeâ
Sounds suspiciously like les chasseurs themselves, but maybe add often rat-arsed and youâre bang on!!
But isnât the problem just that. Many chasseurs donât follow the rules, they are often under the influence, especially post lunch and they have a sense of entitlement often supported by the Mairie , who hold the view that hunting is an age old French tradition that must be maintained. That so few are engaged in it while so many oppose it should provide at least some days of peace and quiet, but it doesnât. And to pretend itâs about culling is just a lie. My neighbour has tried to stop the hunt trampling all over his land, you would not believe what hoops HE has to jump through to achieve this and apparently he has to do it every so many years.
