Another tale of woe, or is it carelessness?

The whole thing is a mess brought upon all of us by Westminster and the fools who believed them. I have a French friend who has been married for 15 years or so to a Brazilian and she has to go through utter hell with the French authorities for a CDS on a regular basis. A similar dose of misery was meted out by the UK authorities to a highly educated Argentinian girl who’d married a Scot, had come to live with him in Scotland and then wasn’t able to attend a family wedding in Italy because she would have lost all her rights and would have had to have started the whole process again. Nor was she able to go and visit her sick mother for the same reasons. Little could one have imagined that such turmoil would come our way too.

More accurately, the portion of Westminster inhabitants who agitated for a referendum and then told shedloads of lies as part of the Leave campaign;

Agreed - though given the extent of the lies as mentioned above, we can forgive some Leave voters who believed the biggest and most often repeated lie which was that we would end up with “Brexit Lite” and stay in the Single Market and not lose freedom of movement - aka the “Gove Misrepresentation” or the “Have Your Cake and Eat It” option.

That of course was naive, but it all illustrates the fact that referenda are a very poor way to make important national decisions - few and far between are the complex choices that can be accurately represented by a simple “Yes” or “No” vote.

It’s a pity that politicians can’t be prosecuted for fraud in the way that businesses can if they misrepresent their products or services.

Jesper Tengroth, press chief at the Migration Agency, tells TT that the authority informed widely about what applied in connection with Brexit.

It’s about taking personal responsibility. The Migration Agency has in various ways been helpful in answering questions. We conducted numerous interviews and had continuously updated information on the website.

He points out that if you have a job or connection to Sweden, you can apply for a residence permit from the country outside Sweden where you are located.

And then you’ll get it if you meet all the criteria. The door is not closed.

Behaving sensibly, doing the right thing at the right time doesn’t make for good media articles. It’s a world that will always go to the dark side.

sadly so… but I thought it only fair to post the Swedish side of things which tells a somewhat different tale to the sob story.
