Any cheerful news today? (Nothing negative please! šŸ™‚) (Part 1)

So pleased - finished the tiling in the shower room today. Now there’s every chance that we’ll be able to use it while our visitors are here rather than traipsing through their bedroom to get to the en-suite

Coming back from Rodez this lunchtime I passed sixteen Ferraris

Mind you, they were going in the opposite direction…

We have just come back from the most amazing 70th birthday party of our friend Marie-Claude.
Amazing food and wine, music and dancing.
We were the only non french.
How lucky we were to find Trivy.

ā€œmi duckā€ is common in Notts. ā€œallreetā€ is more Yorkshire I think.

We’re working our way through homemade mincemeat slices… which reminds us of Christmas :+1:

If and when we get some consistent hot weather I might concede it’s actually summer…

My son applied for french nationality over four years ago so he could have dual british/french. Last week he received a voting card for the european elections yesterday and went along and explained to the councillors in charge that he was not entitled to vote but they said as he had an official card, he could. This afternoon he called into his local mairie and asked how come he could vote yesterday, after checking online, the secretary said well you do know you have had french nationality since March don’t you?? He said NO, nothing has been sent, phoned or any contact made by the regional prefecture at all! Anyway it looks like he finally has his reward for waiting so long, providing so much paperwork, doing the police and prefecture interviews etc.

Yes a clear sign that one has been granted nationality!

Got to see Furiosa on a big cinema screen this afternoon, despite my wife refusing to go (too down market)

Spectacular - don’t try deep critical analysis or be deterred by the length (150 minutes)- just be let yourself be overwhelmed by the succession of spectacles and unremitting action. totally visually astonishing.

And afterward stepping out into the silence and tranquility of a small French town…

I did happen to take a look at the trailer yesterday and was even overwhelmed with that, let alone 150 mins  interested to know if there’s much of a storyline or is it just a continuous sequence of action, then ā€˜The End’ pops up???

It’s worth seeing not just for the action - in some senses it’s a very old, classical tale of retribution.it’s a visually stunning spectacle , but there’s more to it than just that. Not one to watch on a PC, or heaven forbid a phone! Needs a cinema screen.

The ending unexpectedly brings the wheel full circle… he added enigmatically!

With two strong recommendations I thought I’d give the trailer a go since I love big screen films. The cheerful news is I’ve saved myself €4.50. Could only manage 3 minutes. Make up was good though…

I remember how pleased we were to receive ours years ago as European Citizens and going down to vote. I was a little confused though to also receive voting papers from Nottingham.

So I shrugged, and voted twice. Made up for all the years of not being able to vote in both County Council and Departemental ones.

Having seen the whole film, I’d add that its visual styling was superb in every respect,

And despite the length, not a minute too long (not always the case with more ā€˜serious’ films).

I’m going to go a little Facebook.

When he came to see us from Switzerland our son brought us a fondue. We realised today that it needed eating, so I got out one of the bottles of piesporter michelsberg left from my mother and tonight we’re enjoying fondue.

Saw a juvenile greater spotted woodpecker being fed by a parent this morning. The juve was nearly as large as the adult. We often see then, usually on peanuts or fat balls in the bird feeder, but it’s unusual to see young being fed.
