Julian Assange has been released from Belmarsh and is going to plead guilty in an American court in an overseas American territory to publishing secret information.
It is understood that he will be released immediately as a result of time already served.
I hear nothing said about the fact that Snowden , who was a contractor, was allowed access to this information and that his computer allowed him to copy this information.
The appalling lack of security in the US systems should cause worry to all allies of America.
One should hope that they have upgraded their systems and take a tighter grip on what contractors are allowed to see.
It appears that the change of heart from the US authorities is because Assange was granted an appeal to the High Court and his defence was to plead the first amendment.
It has been a total travesty of justice that this man has been accused, the Swedish authorities were going to extradite him from UK on a very dubious rape charge and the British authorities have also been complicit.
He needs time with his family, his children have only seen him in Belmarsh, to recover from this appalling treatment.

Hubby spotted a bargain in Lidl, I always said I’d not bother, with one of these parasols, but at 35e instead of 90e its perfect over the spa! Very surprised by the quality too. Was shocked the other day when someone was going to spend 1200e

I agree with every word of that, his treatment has been outrageous and the British authorities should hold their heads in shame of their complicity. The extradition request should have been thrown out years ago, especially as, and I know he is not British, it is a one sided treaty with even US citizens accused of causing death being given immunity from extradition in the opposite direction.

My cheerful news is that Gill, yes my nemesis aide to Fran from the off, still in her 6th month of recovery from a broken ankle, kindly accompanied me yesterday to the mason’s in another village to describe my requirements for Fran’s (and mine) headstone.

Very glad I did because she understood my needs exactly and was able to make sure that he did too. Came away full of confidence after he had sketched his thoughts which were precisely in tune with mine.

Also he agreed that the devis, and later facture, would be in Fran’s name alone and thus can be paid, like the funeral costs, directly by our bank from her, now frozen, personal savings account (LEP).

We, Gill and I like Marie-Paule before, agreed that buying Fran a new car under the same system might be pushing it too far, but she would have enjoyed the joke.

Chicken Asian salad with a Asian peanut dressing and toasted cashews. Another use for my air fryer, 2 minutes and perfectly toasted cashews, no pan shaking! Love it!!

Hurrah… had a grand reunion… our american friends arrived for their 3 month visit and brought the sunshine with them… (how nice to actually need to sit in the shade  )
and some French/Italian friends arrived at the same time, so we’ve had a wonderfully funny conversation, using a mixture of French, Italian, English and American as each of us tried to show-off our linguistic skills

Crikey, I hope your camera was tilted, and that the spa doesn’t lean that much :joy:

And not in a shed or outbuilding, where mice or rats will see it as a great place to nest … already been there :frowning:

DO NOT empty and fold that spa. Its the worst thing you can do as the creases weaken the whole thing and the manufacturers do not recommend you do it either. My family learned that the hard way the first winter and then left it out but built a box round it with decking strips around the top and it had a good five years without problems after that. Unfortunately the things that go first are the plastic fittings for the pipework so if you can leave it out and put it on some of those silicone floor mats from Decathlon and then build round it, it should be OK.

I was talking about the parasol. I know nothing about spas.

 I think it is the camera! It does have a very slight lean unfortunately, it happened when we had the massive massive rains, one side sank a little, there is about 1cm difference in water line from one side to the other. Well have to sort it when we pack it up for the winter.

And yes, all our parasols get put away for the winter

Ahhh read this after I posted the above. Oh thats annoying! We have done better than the thin mats, we’ve got thick builders insulation under it. We maybe need to rethink leaving it up then. Won’t building around it make it need planning permission??

Just get a bigger parasolšŸ˜‰

Sorry, think I meant to send reply to Toryroo and pressed the wrong button, its the heat getting to me alrleady at this hour.

No, its not a permanent structure no exceeds any 20m² unless you go silly. All you need is a wooden frame constructed around the spa leaving a bit of space for leaking etc, not too high, about enough so you can sit on the edge with your feet on the ground before climbing up and in and then fill in the sides and put some waterproof decking strips on top. If your OH is handy with a bit of DIY and an electric saw etc he can do this in a couple of days and you can add a bit of pipework to come out of the frame to drain the unit away from it. Family have a little door on one side where they keep all the chemicals etc and the electric gubbins for switching on and off etc. As I said though, do not empty and fold, the creases will stay and weaken the strength of it, family made that mistake first winter and paid the price eventually with several leaks and then the unit giving up the ghost, it was an Intex one as well and cost over €400 when they bought the first one so not cheap for what is a tiny paddling pool.

Mine has a small lean as well, due to the raised decking not being totally level. I’ve put some acrows underneath to slowly correct it.
