Well we will take your wise words on board and buck up our ideas won't we. Just go & have a look in cities and I think you'll have a very different impression. Choosing to live in the sticks, in one of the poorest & most rural départements, which is the home of many retired people and part-time foreigners doesn't make for a buzzing dynamic 24 hour lifestyle.
I believe thay can be very dyanmic when they wish to be ..but not in the typical anglo saxon way ..try taking away an old earned priviledge (like retiring at 52 for the cheminots) or bring in a reform and you'll see that they can really get their act together, and bring the place to a standstill!
What a good question Barbara. In my line of work I come across a lot of very dynamique French people, some young, some old, but all highly motivated. This based on city living though.
In the countryside I only tend to see one or two that are really motivated.
