I really don’t understand your point.
Yes it is. Everybody on here is used to reading off a screen.
I have not offered an opinion on whether people use online or paper returns I have simply pointed out that the online system is straightforward and makes it easy to reference your previous returns. One of the huge advantages of it is you don’t get pages of forms to browse through you only get the parts that are relative to you. I might not have expressed my opinion but the French Government has, they would prefer everybody with access to a computer to complete an online return.
That’s not the same thing.
You queried why @Stella preferred to refer to a printout of her previous return when making the current one, instead of viewing all of it online, which you claimed was “easier”.
Anyway I think we have expended enough time and energy on this exercise.
I am sharing my experience. Perhaps I need to bow to your superior knowledge of doing French tax returns.
Somewhat proving the point. Maybe it would serve well to be hesitant before describing others views as odd.
And Stella shared hers, and her preferences, which are no less valuable than yours.
I’m curious as to why you feel the need to go on the attack when faced with reasonable challenge.
Flipping between windows on some or all types of screen, especially on official stuff like tax return, actually is cumbersome and stressful for many including me. That’s speaking as someone with a career much of which was spent in IT.
Hi everyone
My visit to local tax office this morning went well. They were v helpful and as soon as I receive my avis I have to go back with them and will be helped to complete them. Feeling quite relieved. After this year it will be much more straightforward. Thanks for all the advice I have had

Just because I am an annoying pedant you will receive the formulaire de déclaration. Which you fill in and in due course you get the avis which is the formal notice of tax paid and due. Sorry. I can’t help myself.
Yes, Jane is quite correct… your will receive the document to complete, in which you will Declare your Worldwide Income received in 2024.
This Declaration form is what you will take to the Tax Office (along with all your financial figures) and the Tax people will help you…
Once the completed Declaration is signed by You and given to the Tax People (make sure you keep a photocopy)… your financial situation will be closely looked at and (in the autumn) you will receive a document from
Direction Générale des Finances Publiques
Impôt sur les revenus de 2024
Avis d’Impôt établi en 2025
This Avis tells you how much tax you owe (or not…) and is a summary of the various facts and figures you have put on the Declaration…
It might seem a bit of a faffle, but you’ll get there in the end.

Yes Stella. I’m sure it will be fine but after such a huge error last year I was apprehensive. It took a huge amount of sorting out and I would prefer not to have to go through that again. My input is pretty straightforward so hopefully after this year it will be relatively easy

Hi Stella
Just found your reply in my junk folder! Yes. I think all will be fine now I have discussed my situation at local office. They agreed it is complique! Thank you for your support. Much appreciated

Quick question Am studying previous tax declarations made by late husband. I see he has entered our state OAPs on the line for pensions en capital taxed at 7.5%. And our government one on line for future pensions. He seems to have always done this! Surely this is wrong. I assume en capital means lump sum. Just trying to familiarise myself with declaration format. Help!!
This is wrong.
State pensions go on form 2042 line 1AM and 1BM
And for 2047 section 1 (12)
Gov’t pensions go on form 2042 1AL and 1BL
And 2047 section 6
Just a caveat that forms have ‘t been released yet so this years’ line numbers coukd change.
