I wouldn’t go near Revolut.
What about Boursorama, N26 etc.? I don’t tthink they impose fees.
Though if the account works (it does for us) then I’m happy to pay the small monthly fee. It’s a French thing.

No they won’t at present (although Revolut has applied to be upgraded to a “bank” in the UK I believe) - but as long as you don’t keep your life savings in them and just use them as a convenient payment conduit I think the risk is pretty low.
I am a Wise One BTW. ![]()
There’s quite a few of us! I only use mine for transfers, partly because I got fed up with the 1-2p interest per month that they started adding to my balances. Obviously I had to declare it on the tax return and it was a right faff so I no longer keep any money there at all…
Revolut got their answer on a banking licence in the UK : they were refused.
Wise could probably do all you need, very light transaction charges, fair FX rates, no monthly fees.
If you want EDF to direct debit you then I’ve seen commentary they won’t do it (illegally) as the Wise Eur account is a Belgium one. But I’m really sure you can set up any account you want to pay regularly in Wise, including EDF, and just pay bills when they arrive (most can be set up to arrive electronically not paper/post).
No doubt I am easily satisfied because our banking needs are simply but I find the CA app does everything I need very efficiently. I am curious what it fails on?
The interest is opt-in I believe. I thought it would be more faff than profit so I declined to opt in.
I wasn’t given an option to opt in or out but I shall definitely look at that. It was a heck of a faff…
Wise now have a scheme for reimbursement for some online scams:
Opting out of receiving interest is fairly easy (once you know where it is!)
Log into your Wise account and click on the currency that you want to “de-interestise” (if that’s a word).
There are two tabs labelled Transactions and Options - Click on Options.
Then click on “Earn”.

Now click on “Change this balance”

Finally, click on the “Cash” option.
Repeat as necessary if you have other currency balances earning interest.
You can carry out this procedure either on the Wise website or on the App, the steps are exactly the same.
Thanks Chris! Not that I normally need to keep money there but it does make it an option ![]()
You need to read the conditions but Boursarama is generally free - theres conditions attached to some of their accounts. French bank - completely online. Hello bank gets good reviews as well
Wise/Revolut beat any “bank” on currency transfers and are generally reliable. The multi currency accounts / debit cards make life easy outside France
Revolut has a banking licence in Lithuania, which covers European residents under the banking deposit guarantee scheme.
We have a card from CA which allows us to use the cash machine at our local branch only. It’s free.
Fortuneo is also a good free online bank.
