Big battery backup things (Jackery / Ecoflow)

Another idea, and maybe more flexible, especially given that you don’t need alot of wattage, how about two smaller units? When I was looking, Jackery was a bit behind the others with still using Lithium and there seemed to be a ‘Jackery tax’, as they seemed unreasonably pricier.

I take your point about flexibility, I did look at a smaller/lighter Ecoflow and a Jackery which were cheaper - but they weren’t massively cheaper than this Ecoflow, which is discounted by 32% due to being a “return” (unused but somebody changed their mind about it), so two smaller ones would cost more than the Ecoflow Delta 2.

And for my initial use case I need to make sure it will power a TV and a laptop for 8 hours at a trade show.

Anyway I’ll see what it’s like when it arrives, if it’s too much of a lump I can return it!!

I could be interested Adam.

Anker has a 2048 kW aH capacity unit pullalong on trolley wheels. Regularly discounted to 1300 £/EUR, which in .de is also available from a reseller or two semi-permanently almost certainly cheap to ship to F if you can’t wait for next Anker/Amazon discount cycle soon or at latest November. Recharges by solar or mains.

They have smaller capacity units too.

Well the Ecoflow Delta 2 arrived yesterday, and I have been testing it today.

It arrived charged to 30% and it took under an hour to charge up to 100% on the default 1200W setting - I believe you can throttle that back via the app though not sure why you would want to, unless it has some benefit for battery lifespan, or if you’re charging while using lots of other appliances.

It’s a reasonably compact unit (40 x28 x 21 cm); weight is 12kg which is easy enough to move around.

I plugged in the 43" Hisense LED TV which I need it to power at exhibitions, and it ran for 8 hours solidly with no problem, running the battery down to 45%. The TV draws 60 watts.

So I think it will be perfect for my initial requirements; obviously you’re not going to be able to run a stack of household appliances off it, but that’s not what I need it for.

As a “returned” unit with 32% off I think it was a good buy - the box was sealed and the only visible damage a small dent in the top of the outer box - the unit itself is perfect.

I’m glad I got a unit with Lithium Iron Phosphate cells rather than just Lithium as it should last for a lot more charge cycles. Ecoflow make a couple of add-on battery packs to up its capacity to 2kWh or 3kWh if I ever need that.

Great it fits the bill👍 as a matter of interest, does it have wifi?

Yes it does - and Bluetooth! So you can check on its state of mind with the Ecoflow app, either over a local wifi network or just with Bluetooth if you are near enough to it.

Quite handy as the display on the front switches off after a while (and of course the unit may be tucked away out of sight).

ETA Ecoflow offer a five year warranty which is reassuring.

Sounds very practical. I do like the bluetooth on mine but wifi would also be great to monitor when away. I’d be interested to hear how reliable the wifi is longer term :+1::+1: a great buy :+1::+1:
