Saw a large owl sitting in top of a pole this afternoon- not a Polish gentleman! I shall have to look it up to see which owl it is. Not normally around in the day time are they?

It was a tawny owl

It’s not unknown to see 'em during the day.
Probably snoozing… they work mostly at night :wink:

New sighting today!!

A small flock of Bee Eaters on the wing (probably about 20 or so)

Friends on the far side of our commune had Bee-eaters nesting, year after year. Marvellous sight…
Sadly, they don’t come any longer.. but we live in hope that the birds will come back, one of these years :crossed_fingers:

This is the first year I have seen them and so perhaps you will have luck this year?

Only ever seen one, let alone a whole flock!

They’re beautiful little birds, we’ve seen them here. I think they migrate from Africa?

Yes indeed - they migrate from tropical Africa and I remember watching them in Karachi along with tonnes of other incredible birds!
