Blood Test Lab

Ahh, did he not have a carte vitale? Because he shouldn’t have both :joy:

I was behind the “guard one’s privacy” line so didn’t see/hear all the happenings… but when I saw him wave what was obviously a V5… I flinched and kept silent… never seen him before so he might have been a Visitor. :crossed_fingers: It’s not only residents who need Laboratory services… so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Incidentally, as well as the Receptionist asking all sorts of questions to confirm identity, plus height/weight etc etc … even though she’s got all the bits and bobs… the Vampire who sucks the blood always asks Name and DoBirth, before she attacks  and, sometimes, asks me “why has your Doctor asked for this test?”
(although that is presumably when he’s asked for some indepth investigations)

No matter… it’s nice to know they check and double check rather than randomly draining ones blood…

The last time the nurse asked if she had my correct date of birth I said “It sounds about right but it was a long time ago”.

Which year? Every year!:joy:

I have a blood test every three months. Always fasting but drinking water aids blood flow. Dehydration makes vein finding a lot harder for the nurse. I’ve never been asked for ID unless I was asked the very first time but that memory has disappeared in the mists of time.

I suspect that experiences will (and obviously do) differ…

Our Lab has a queue of about 20 before they’ve even opened their doors Mon-Fri… and it’s non-stop until they close at midday…

I reckon checking and double checking helps keep everyone on the straight and narrow… :+1:

We are very lucky. Nearly everybody on our stretch of chemin is retired except one house where a generalist lives and a maison secondaire (English). Many need treatment several times a day so if we need blood tests or injections we just stop one of the regular nurses that visit and ask them to slot us into their daily round. They are happy to do this even if the ordonnance is not labelled “a domicile”.

I can only hope that my local Novabio lab is very accomplished regarding interpreting blood tests, because they are bloody useless about conveying said results to patients and doctors alike.

When mine arrived in my inbox and I managed to open it I discovered that it was addressed to Fran. It has taken several days and several tries to get them to recognise me. Also they got my doctor wrong, even though we have both had tests since changing cabinets about 5 years ago, they still insist that the old one is the current one.

Their site moved so slowly that I thought it wasn’t working, and made several mistakes regarding email addresses (they insisted on inserting a dot instead of an @. ) then sent a code via my phone after saying it had been sent to my email.

I have written back putting them right on me and my doctor and asking if I have to take the results to him or do they send them anyway directly. Not holding my breath though for a meaningful reply.

As to the results, of course they are all double Dutch to me but I do detect that my 2 different categories of collesterol, while above what is the accepted norm, is nevertheless lower than it was last time. So good. I think.

There was something else that was flagged, but I have forgotten what it was and I haven’t the energy to go back and look again.

Well blow me down for a doubter, it has just arrived:

Bonjour,
Nous avons rectifié votre médecin et nous lui transmettons vos résultats.
Cordialement,
Novabio nontron.

There is only one chemical formular for cholesterol, C27H46O so how can one be bad and one be good?

LDL vs HDL, I suspect…

Clear as mud to me.
I didn’t say one bad one good, but direction of travel was equally good.
I assume.

I find it helpful to copy chunks of stuff like this into google - one quickly gets a sense of what’s going on, which means one’s subsequent conversation with one’s MT makes more sense.

Yes Brian but its still the same cholesterol, C27H46O according to science. Only it isnt really cholesterol, its lipoprotein, used to transport its cargo around the body, some of the lipoproteins carry cholesterol some carry other things the body needs it a transport system to convey fats around a water filled arterial system because fats and oils dont mix except in mayonaise

Is it from the dates relating to previous levels?

Yes, although the current was somewhat higher than the supposed norm, it was less than the readings last time.
Not really bothered, now I know the results go to the doc, and he will call me if its grave, I’m perfectly happy not knowing. Just as I was the last time. :grinning:
