Buying a house in France, sellers not replying

Alcoholics. Like women who drink white wine in the morning. These are obv well-known facts

So, rather than take the person who referred to all agents as having shit for brains to task … you prefer to accuse me of disrespect! That’s pretty rich.

Have just discovered I’m unable to find my Muskoka Lakes’ photos and coffee table book…

And my friend’s rustic island was sold years ago…

I already took the other person to task.
I simply suggested that there are many ā€˜agents commercial’ who deserve respect for the work that they do.

Try Legget. They offer really cheap homes in the areas that interest you. https://www.frenchestateagents.com/french-property-for-sale/mainSearch/departments:/towns:/regions:24--52/primarypropertytype_id:1/max_price:300000/page:5/sort:Allproperty.price/direction:asc

How annoying - sounds like his niggles are my dream!

Yes with a little detective work one can almost always find said property on Google maps…I get much pleasure in doing so (a bit sad?)… There are almost always clues in the photos… Also the properties are not always where they say but maybe the next village etc.

Thanks to everyone posting - very much appreciated.
I have searched in a variety of French property sites and see the general map location - I use Google Maps and walk around sight-seeing using Street view - dropping in the walker icon.

I have been taken aback by the location surrounds such as; on the edge or in an industrial site/area or locating what appears to be an ideal property and seeing a main road outside the front door.

The only sure way to ā€˜see’ is to drive by and walk around areas when you’re really serious about a re-location. Same with any real estate in any Country. I have in the past bought and sold properties in Adelaide, Sydney, Surrey UK and Isle of Man.

Always the best to see as many properties in person - hard going but interesting I viewed 17 Victorian houses in IOM and there is a short supply - so lots of pressure to rush in with offers.

Agents tell you anything you want to hear - so I tell very little and be observant and ask lots of questions - always smiling and grateful to them for their time.

When I was a Realtor in the US, I would ask my local buyers to do a drive by before I would even make an appointment to show, unless they were REALLY local and already knew the area. If they weren’t local, I would offer to facetime them so that they could see the surroundings. You are correct, you need to see the property and area. Of course, in the US, there are MLSs, so everyone can know where the property sits. So much easier for the buyer, but I do understand why things are different in France, given the way the industry works here.

Always good to learn up in the rules  in the IOM (in the Irish Sea) one agent refuses to sell online without the buyer visiting from ā€˜across’ the UK - with Covid buyers were buying online - basically blind - as a back-up to escape the UK as Covid took its reach.
I’m learning quite a bit in this forum - thank you everyone.

Very smart, that agent.

Yes, in the same boat. Need a rep.

I have tried that approach and it is rarely successful.

We are rightfully afraid to leave and try to re-enter the US. We do not know what is going to happen now.
