Can I interest anyone in a second-hand badger?

OK I have had enough.

Tony Blaireau is now ignoring the security lights and has resumed earthworks.

An electric fence kit is (now not) coming from Amazon tomorrow so I can set up Stalag Luft Dachsenhausen.

ETA: I have changed my mind about the proposed electrified prisoner compound. Having walked around the garden again I think it’s pointless trying to electric-fence off one gap between the house and the back hedge which was my initial idea. My mother reckons it’s coming in via a gap under the side gate and under the neighbour’s fence, rather than the other side.

It’s done so much digging already that there’s probably not much point in spending £100 on an electric fence kit that it can still bypass, even if it did get deterred from using that particular route.

I’m going to dose the lawn with a second spray of nematode anti-grub stuff and fill the hole under the side gate with concrete.

But I fear it’s all a losing battle as it has done so much digging already a bit more won’t be all that noticeable…

The horrible concoction given to us by our hunter friend seems to have deterred the sangliers in returning. It’s been sprayed down the side of the lane running adjacent to our garden. The chasse caught a blighter which weighed 104 kilos recently. Hopefully it was this one or one of his family members who bit the dust. No ruts in the lawn recently. We also hung a solar powered Montgolfier light on the branches of a pear tree next to the worst of the damaged areas in the hope that seeing this in the night firing up might make the sangliers be frightened off. Although it might be providing entertainment for the local fouines instead

Badger-derived excavation under the side gate is now no more (professional concrete artisans avert your eyes now):

I shall add a strip of wood along the bottom of the gate later this afternoon once the concrete has gone off a bit.

I am not very optimistic (more badgery pits appeared overnight) but the hole needed filling in anyway…
