Can someone help explain how long I can be out of France for? (3 years residency)

Hello I am asking this for my uncle. He has 10 year resident permit. He is getting pension now . He want to stay with his extended family in India. He has medical issues also. How long he can stay outside Europe or france to have this resident permit valid and benefits of pension.

Thanks

Which resident permit does he have ( there are several)? In general you can be out of France for between 6 months and 2 years (5 years is only for WARP card hokders).

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I suggest that your Uncle contacts his Pension Provider (whichever/wherever that might be) regarding his future plans.

His card says Titre De Sejour or Carte De Resident. Working permit for non EU resident for 10 years.

Can someone guide now.

If it is a carte de resident permanent without an expiry date then:

L’absence de l’étranger hors du territoire pendant plus de 3 ans : l’étranger s’est absenté du territoire depuis plus de 3 ans de sorte que son titre de séjour est périmé.

But if it’s a 10 year card then I think the time you can be out of France is reduced to 2 years.

This explains the different cartes de séjour
