Charges for using my CA card!

Old f**t. You should see them at the weighing machine!

Or buffer!

Old Duffer (I reckon)

Old codger.
Not to be confused with old todger.

and of course Diamond Geezer (old geezer with style  )

Diamond Geezers can be any age, and don’t have to have style. Just be a good solid person, even if badly dressed.

Yes. Those Vickers Vimys had plenty of character but they were certainly slow

I think that was a one-way service from Newfoundland to a bog in Ireland though wasn’t it? And the in-flight meals were rubbish.

Going west you had to go by boat…

No, that was the inaugural flight. Lots of champagne, you know. The scheduled service was much more reliable.

Depending on whether Biggles or Algy were up front.

Use a UK based card.

Indeed… but the particular one I’m thinking of was (rather) old

Well I’m an old widower, whatever you call us, and I whirl round that shop at breakneck speed while muttering under my breath about all the other oldies who browse, has nobody ever heard of a list, and while browsing they block the alleys with their chariots.

But I say nowt, because one of the things I so love about the French, is their patience. :joy:

On my way to Canada once I had enough time to read War and Peace at the stopover at Schipol on the way there and more than enough time to re-read it and complete the sequel between flights at Heathrow on my way home. Air travel is great when the plane is actually in the air.

Good grief. How long did you have between flights?

Artistic licence. I hate the waiting around that can go with air travel. A day spent in a horribly crowded Heathrow between a transatlantic flight landing early in the morning and a flight to Düsseldorf that evening was one of the low points my travelling experiences. At least at Schipol there were places to sit.

Are you saying you buy wine making stuff from Amazon UK ? I know how difficult it is to find wine making supplies in France, unless you want to to buy stuff to make a minimum of 200l at a time :open_mouth:. I’ve used both the ones below and prices are much cheaper than what you can find on Amazon. There are delivery charges but if you order enough it’s worth it.

I DID used to buy via Amazon UK outlets many moons ago now but not for several years and certainly pre-brexit. I am not computer savvy so only knew about amazon but now I got my family when they visited in the summer to bring some actual bits and pieces. Also, living in a huge wine area I have found making it not worth the bother when I can go up the road a few mins and buy some really nice local wines.

A bit like me when I heard that a former English friend baked his own bread. In France? Why? Mind you I find it harder to get what I like these days.

I don’t eat hardly any bread these days, a lot of it is so hard you could use it for playing cricket with. So, shame on me, I bought a sliced brown with cereal seeds in it from Lidl and was very pleased as its very moist and not sweet like those other packet loaves are. Again, maybe a couple of slices per week as it freezes very well but I do miss my old artisan boulanger and I can’t be bothered to make my own these days when I have other pressing things to do outside.
