Climate/ecological breakdown

At least you can say mean things about DJT online from the U.K. and not face a visit from Comrade Starmer’s thought police.

Think you made that bit up.

What else would you call the Met and other U.K. police forces who are arresting people for pointing out Dear Leader’s failings on the internet?

Please give a concrete example of people getting arrested for “pointing out [Kier Starmer]’s failings on the internet”.

Because there aren’t any.

Where people have faced sanction for postings it is because those posts directly incite violent behaviour or are racist.

TBH I’m getting quite tired of your misinformation.

This, 100%…

Interesting how threads go. There was an earlier suggestion that the JSO protestors were being jailed because the Tory party didn’t want them protesting. Now we have suggestions that if you speak against Keir Starmer online then he’ll send the Bobbies round. Both cases deliberately misconstrued reality.

Are we no better than this, to seize on stupid fabrications just because they suit our political preferences and feed our wishes?

Jeez, you know you’re in a bad place when Corona is stomping on your conspiracy theory. Sorry Corona but I couldn’t resist.

More ecological worry for those in the UK. Another brexit benefit…

@Susannah - I’m not sure how to take your last post. I’m fairly confident that you aren’t a climate change sceptic or brexiter.

Believing everything written about climate change is as bad as believing nothing.
Does that make someone a climate change sceptic?

There are many opinions and quite a few scientist disgagree with their scientist colleagues

:joy:

No, I’m a tree hugging climate worrier and still wearing an old dyed in the wool Remainer coat.

I just thought The New Yorker humour was a timely reflection of this thread.

Your coat may be old, but I imagine it’s a very good one!

I’ve got a cloak it’s a bit of a joke.
There’s a tear up the front. It’s red and black.
I’ve had it for months.
If you think it could look good, then I guess it should.

Quite an old article (and paywalled) but Nat Geo produced some maps depicting what a ~ 60-70m rise in sea level as a result of all ice melting would do to coastlines - food for thought.
