Cost of wood pellets

It’s a traditional fuel in some countries.

Not just a traditional fuel…

And I’m sorted if we run out of pellets!

an excellent fuel if it’s dried enough

Wish I’d had a pipeful at school now.

They’ll smoke any old shit in Denmark

Following up from Jan, how are pellet prices now? Have things settled out again to 5-7 euros/bag or are they still 15 euros/bag?

Seems to be almost back to normal now…

Including delivery it comes out as €507, for a pallet with 66 bags (of 15KG each). By my reckoning that’s just over €7.50 per bag.

Wow, I could get 12 stere of cut to length timber for that.:yum:

Thanks. Is that a brand you recommend?

Sorry, I don’t use pellets for heating (sadly we have an attractive but horribly inefficient open fireplace :sob:). I just use them in my pizza oven… One 15KG bag lasts me about 3 months :pizza::pizza::pizza:

A friend does have a poêle à granulés though. Would you like me to ask him where he sources house pellets and if he’d recommend them?

Pellets will surely be available from a local supplier… across France ???

Of course, but I think the quality can vary considerably… And as they’re delivered by pallet it’s not so easy to return them if you’re not satisfied.

And don’t call me Shirley

We get ours from France-pellets and Gamm Vert. The latter is ‘cheaper’ as you have to collect them yourself (here at least in Seine Maritime), whereas France Pellets quite reasonably charge for delivery. Currently between 7-8 a bag if you buy a pallet of 65 bags.

I’m only thinking aloud… I know that there are suppliers in most areas and one can go, discuss, etc etc…

Not everyone can or might want to do that, of course… fair enough.

Indeed. To quote the famous philosopher Hoskins, “It’s good to talk” :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s kind of you to offer but I’ll probably ask some of our neighbours in that case, since there may be a good local supplier they recommend.

DeeDee recomnended a brand on here 18 months or so ago that she said was the best, she was spot on on most things.

Other than that, like for a lot of things, talk to people locally and they’ll tell you.
