I opened a wise account this week. Living in France with a UK passport made them want more than a scanned passport. I had to do a real time face image and my passport again at the same time. My son in law in the US is coming to Europe in a few weeks and opened one too for him to get a card like me and he had the same problem as he has a UK passport but is an official green card US resident like I hold a CDS. My daughter got her card with them two years ago for travel and had none of that bar her passport details.
It’s been a while, but I have a feeling I had to do that too, despite being UK resident at present. It may be a standard thing nowadays.

I had to do it too - took forever to get a decent “mug shot” that they would accept.
