Don,t think there is a buy and sell on here, but just post it on the discussion page.
Time wasters are everywhere, but last year i came across a first for me.People that were selling the cars were the timewasters. One seller, after agreeing to sell and me buy, let me go to the great trouble and expense of arranging insurance for a car that was in the UK before suddenly telling me it was no longer for sale, another seller slammed the phone down when he realized i was calling from France, because he was in the UK,he thought he would get charged for the call,i gave up after that.
Give them to a resourcerie, or local asylum organisation, or other groups that del with people in need.
I’ve heard the local Secours Catholique really helps local people with things donated. Apparently you don’t even have to be Catholic to help or be helped by them.
We don’t have one here but I’ve heard some good things about Petits Frères des Pauvres charity too. There’s a lot of hidden or not-so-hidden poverty in France especially rurally, even today.
On the buying side Emmaüs is good but if I’m donating and want it to go ro someone local it’s the above 2 I would seek out to donate to.Even tbough I’m not Catholic. To me Emmaüs feels in the direction of Oxfam - rather too big.
Or see if there is a local group supporting the local asylum seekers. In our old tiny town they had an allocation of 12 asylum seekers who came with nothing, and were provided with empty flats.
When we first moved here in 2018 and there was the massive flooding with 14 dead and thousands made homeless, Secours Catholique stepped in immediately to organise relief. They organised temporary accommodation and collection of donations of money but also food and other things. We gave several things we probably didn’t immediately need but could be useful. Since then we’ve took loads of stuff to the shop in Bram. They do a fantastic job and do humanitarian work in Gaza and Lebanon to mention just a few places they work.
