Once every 2 months, think it’s unlikely TBH. Maybe check at the Mairie
I did think that was a bit unreasonable but I will definitely speak to the Mairie when I get the keys in August and just hope that the owners are wrong. I have no problem paying for the bins but when checking the website it says €109 for second home owners for the year so quite a lot for 6 uses a year🤔
So did I, until a week ago. I had heard of cards or vehicle numbers being given/demanded but I thought that was just to make sure the tippers were from the same commune(s). Never occurred to me that a private resident should have to pay, I knew that tradesmen had to which is why it was built into their quotations.
Reminds me of the situation when we first bought our house here, 32 years ago. There was a really horrible fly blown settee in one room that had to go and I asked around and nobody knew, until someone said ‘in the forest on the way to the next commune there is a pile of rubbish dumped between the trees, put it there’.
I had seen that and was disgusted by it so kept looking and then realised that a former railway cutting on the outer edge of the village was being gradually filled in, officially or otherwise, so that was where the offending article went. Not long afterwards I noticed a digger levelling it off and adding soil so I was gratified that it was the ‘right’ place.
Eventually, when it was full, they made a purpose built concrete platform there with spaces around it for industrial skips that the lorries could get to and cart away. And that is what, 30 odd years later, the buggers want me to pay for.
Being a hoarder/upcycler extroardinaire, I have little use for it.
yes that is true for us too, the tax fonciere is a lot less then other areas I was looking in which included the bins and I certainly don’t mind paying for the bins on top just wish it wasn’t as limited but I will find out for certain
I know it is quite shocking really. I am surprised by the fact that in the UK we have our bins emptied every 2 weeks and can use the recycling centre when ever we need for free and yet fly tipping is everywhere especially items that are free to dump and I have never seen any fly tipping in France (one reason for us buying a house in France) and yet the waste is so limited now and I understand why so many French are hoarders as it is more difficult to get rid of. The amount of houses I saw with general rubbish piled to the ceiling was mad
As I said in another thread, I am searching for Fran’s boules for a friend, I know they are in there somewhere, but where?
He knows me well and has decided to buy his own from Intersport.
A visitor recently thought what a good idea to have a fridge in the garden, I opened the door to reveal the neatly propped garden tools.
People are being urged to divide up their Rubbish into the various Bins and to recycle as much as possible. there are special outlets which remodel/reuse all sorts of things…
ie Nothing (including unwanted furniture/furnishings/clothes etc should go to the Déchetterie before all other possibilities have been discounted.
the idea is to reduce the quantity of stuff which otherwise would “sit in the ground for 1 million years…”
that’s a brief version of how this new Rubbish/Recycling system was sold.
I rarely use my card for the Black Sacks as I’ve altered my purchasing and look at virtually everything to check “will this recycle/compost or be in the ground for ever blah blah”. So long as it can be recycled or composted… hurrah!!
and we visit the Déchetterie about twice a year.
I’m sorry to say that 1 million years is far too restrictive for me.
Twice, in previous years, (but not recently) our council has organised a benne (very large metal box with a ramp) and anyone who wanted to, could leave their large household appliances (white goods?) beside the benne and the workmen regularly moved everything inside.
If someone needed help, local farmers volunteered to collect the goods from the home and leave them by the benne.
This benne was only for local householders, not visitors/businesses.
Once full, it was transported to the Déchetterie.
Might be the recycling bin?
I would rather that. I’m about 500m from Vienne, and our ComCom Haut Limousin en Marche has just has a lot of bad press for intending to switch to a similar model to all the people under DMC3 I think where they still charge an eye watering sum, but say you can only take X number of 30L bags to a communal bin and when you’ve used those it’s 5€ per extra bag. I’d much rather start at, say, 100€ per year to cover the costs for the recycling, then just pay for every single bag you put in the bin. That way if I put in 5 per year my bill will be smaller, if I put in 50 it will be larger. It seems a fairer way of doing it rather than saying I have a 300€ bill, inclusive of 26 bags when I’ve no idea if I’ll use those 26 or not.
