Discourse requiring OS update

When the industry I had been working in was privatised and they were offering voluntary redundancies, it amazed me how many people took that, then turned up the following months as a contractor. I thought that it was not only unethical, it made no financial sense for the business concerned. However, I found out later that they thought it was fine to pay enormous sums to contractors but not to have employees.

On a technical front it caused huge problems as there was no continuity of support, being dependant on getting various contractors in rather than having an IT department who could support it. They’d got rid of most of the technical people. I’d left of course for other reasons but before they started paying people to leave. (Never follow my example in financial matters  )

For various reasons based upon business logic, having more employees (like having large amounts of unsold stock) can be a bad idea.

I have seen 2 companies operating on a limited scale in that way in the same sort of business, provide a service to each other occasionally which is billed.

Another change I’ve noticed with SF since Discourse altered is that I no longer get a preview of what my post will look like while I’m typing it. I used to have the typing-in box on the left and the this-is-what-it-will-look-like box on the right. Have other people experienced this change?

I still get the preview - at least when replying on a computer (Apple Mac / Firefox) -

Interesting. I only use a computer for doing anything on the internet. I have a basic smartphone but only use it for calls and texts. Browser is Firefox. Hmmmm…

True for any company really, big or small. Farmers and market gardeners too. That big, juicy contract with a Grand Surface that takes 80% of your output and then when you’ve diverted your focus from smaller customers and lost them, they screw you.

I think I’ve worked it out.

You may have clicked the new “M” button at top left in the editing toolbar:

This switches the Post/Reply Editor into “Rich Text” mode which is WYSIWIG so the preview pane is no longer needed.

Just had a play with it, @ChrisMann . You are quite right about what it does but I don’t recall pressing the new button. Perhaps it starts in WYSIWIG by default (or perhaps I’m losing it eve faster than I thought I was  )
